Samsung RF217ACRS - 20 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator Logo
Anonymous Posted on Aug 28, 2012

What would cause an intermittent buzzer noise from a Samsung RF217ACRS refrigerator? It otherwise works fine.

Every few minutes or couple of hours I hear a short medium loud "buzzer" type noise from this refrigerator. It is about 2 years old and otherwise seems to work fine. The ice maker is not being nor has it ever been used. Technician couldn't fix it because he never heard the noise during his visit. He said it could be a relay (he pointed to the lower right aft side of the fridge) or the compressor. There does seem to be a short soft hum before and after the buzzer noise. Samsung online chat agent was worthless. Please help! And thank you.

Thanks, Rigger. Even though I at first dismissed your suggestion since the buzzer noise seems to be more external, I checked the ice maker switch and found it ON. I have turned it OFF and will monitor it. I hope you are right, Rigger! I'll let you know.

My frigidare freezer upright after moving beeps hit reseat quits after a few hours starts beeping again freezes great

Sounds like a GPS locator issue! JUST KIDDING!

This site may help. There are just too many electronic anomalies that can cause this issue. I got lucky once by asking if they just had their dog RFID tagged and spayed or neutered. Turns out they did that week. The ID tag was on the same frequency as their dryer buzzer. They put a gum wrapper on the front of buzzer and problem solved.

Is my defrost timer broken or my thermostat? The freezer was holding -30 temp but now is at +30.

Is the compressor running? If not - the timer could be stuck in defrost mode. If it is ruinning, then the freezer coil should be cold. If it is choked with frost & ice - then the defrost heater isn't getting powered (bad timer or defrost terminator - or is getting powered but has burned out.

You should allow the ice and frost to melt completely before turning back on again. Typically ice and frost don't build up so bad in a few days time to cause the temperature rise you're describing If getting cold - the compressor and refrigerant is likely OK, if not the defrost circuit is suspect. If compressor running but not getting cold - a refrigerant leak / charge level may be causing the problem.

Keeps sounding an alarm on refrigerator side and will not cool

Hello Friend, this is Z. Thank you for allowing me to assist you!

Did your refrigerator previously experience a power loss? If the temperature of food rises to an unsafe level, the buzzer will sound and the red light, if equipped, will also glow. First, deactivate the alarm to your refrigerator by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker. It is good to wait roughly ten minutes and then turn on your refrigerator. After deactivating the alarm and your refrigerator has run approximately four hours, the red light/alarm should go off on its own. If the red light/alarm continues to stay on, your refrigerator may possibly have a communication problem with the control board, temperature control or a wiring harness. If this is the case, I would recommend connecting with an experienced technician to determine the underlying cause. Best regards!

Freezer makes really loud noise

You need someone to check the fans and where the noise is coming from before the repair cost you a lot of money because of damage it can cause. The fan may be hitting ice in the freezer or out of balance because it is worn out. No one can hear what you hear and someone will need to be there to check these things out, Sea Breeze

Working on a t49 freezer it wont go below 30 , change compressor couple months a go worked fine. Now i change dry and regas with 22oz 404 and wont go down , my high side is 200 my low side is 18 . clean...

Sounds like a restriction to me.
Recover the charge.
Pressurize the system with 350 pounds of nitrogen pressure through the high side.
Leave it pressurized for 15 minutes.
Release the pressure through the low side.
Replace the filter drier again.
Pull a 2 hour vacuum on high and low side.
Recharge liquid refrigerant on the high side.
Let the system sit idle for 30 minutes before starting.
Check the evaporator fan motor as well as the coils. Use a good coil cleaner on the e-coil.

Freezer/Refrigerator tempurature swinging wildly

The compressor is overheating and not starting. Could be just the start relay. If this happens again try unplugging it for about an hour then it should work for a while. Heat between doors is normal this is an electric heater designed to keep the doors from sweating. You just noticed it because the refrigerator wasn't cold.
