Ya plug it up then turn it on. Go to start on task bar then to printers/scanners button and it will show up there. Right click on it and click properties. Then update driver. Let it automatic search online for it. If you cant find it there go to control panel/system/find the usb or printer connection right click and properties updte driver\
I think no problem with your CD Driver but the PC got virus. I suggest you use ComboFix to clean your PC, where you can get download here. and Read HowTo use it here. It will take time, after scan restart your PC and reinstall the printer driver. good luck.
if the unit is directly connected via USB, another program or prev installed scanner software is using "the path" to communicate with the scanner. Can only use one scanner at a time with windows.
I have the same problem, I spent 72 hours emailing with Epson Support and when they started sending me in circles I ask to speak with a real person. Then they email me and basically told me to buy a new printer if mine was out of the year warranty. Horrible customer service.
Not a computer problem as such There is in general an issue with drivers for peripherals of all types and brands with VISTA and it seems the Manufacturer are digging their heels in and not making driver changes. E-mail Microsoft support and see what they have to say And keep kicking Epson It is really up to peripheral manufacturer to keep up.
Meanwhile you could try this Look up the Vista Help[My Computer- Help] Check out Program Compatibility The idea is you set the computer to pretend is its an older system XP/98 etc and load the program once that is set.
