You need to replace the convergence IC's. That is the most common issue with any CRT type projection TV.

If you take off the front lower grill (4 screws 2 on each side and 2 more small screws behind the input door on front) then remove the panel which if I remember has 4 to 6 screws holding it. You will then see the convergence board with 2 STK392-110's or some variation of them on the convergence amplifier panel. You will have to check the associated resistors around the IC's as most likely some might be bad. If you replace one IC's you need to repalce both of them.

I SEE DOUBLE THE PICTURE AT THE TOP LEFT IS WAVEY

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded over.

Wavey line and double image

Your TV most likely has a problem in the convergence circuits. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

0667c5f.pngSOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.
