SOURCE: Amp Problems

He needs to confirm that he has both B+ and remote turn-on voltage at the amp.

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp (not on the point where the ground wire connected to the vehicle) and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. If the voltage is below ~11 volts, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is too low.

SOURCE: !!!red protect light is on!!!

Hello beaugarcia26,

Unless the amp itself is defective, there's a short or ground somewhere.

First disconnect the speaker wires and RCA (or high level) inputs, leaving just ground, remote turn-on and power leads connected. Then see if the amp powers up normally. If it doesn't check the ground with a multimeter and make sure it is good. If the amp powers up normally, check the speaker, speaker wires and inputs for shorts or grounds.

Hope this helps.

Hifonics 1500D started to hum through subs after beating on them. Unhooked rca's and not the sound. Any ideas?

Check power supply diods. power supply capacitors and power supply and output transistors.
Remember, distortion is the biggest killer of subs and amps. Everything made by anybody has its limit.

Onkyo TX-DS777 goes straight to protection mode

Hello. You have shorted audio outputs. One of your channels has shorted output transistors. If your unit uses output ICs then one of them is shorted. Both types ( individual transistors or ICs ) are located on the large finned heat sink. The parts are available from http:\\www.tritronicsinc.com. good luck

Hifonics Taurus circuit diagra???

You need to measure the voltages at the output transistors. The previous "driver" stage may have a problem. These outputs use .6V as the bias differential. Check for DC voltage on the inputs to the transistors. These are standard designs. I'd check for DC anywhere along the signal path.

Problem with hifonics 1505 class d mono

The positives are connected together and the negatives are connected together. The two pairs of terminals are for convenience. You'd connect one speaker to a pair of positive/negative terminals and you'd connect the other speaker to the remaining pair of positive/negative terminals.

You need to confirm that you have a good signal feeding the amp. If you have another amp in the vehicle, swap the RCA cables between the amps to see if it makes a difference.

You also need to confirm that the speaker are working properly and that there are no broken connections in the wires. If you disconnect the speaker wires from the amp and touch the wires across a D-cell battery (for a fraction of a second), the speaker should pop. if it doesn't, check the wiring to determine why.

Amp does not work

make sure your power and ground wires are 4 gauge thats a big power puller also make sure your wires to woofers are correct!and you want a short ground wire and a good spot for it no paint!!
if there out of phase that will shut it off BUT you might be needing a battery cap. MORE POWER!!!!they dont cost much
and save your battery and alt.hifonics is a good choice my favorite are the series 7 they dont make them like that anymore!
hope this helps one more thing your alt.how many amps is it?
my honda is only 60 amps your brutus pulls that all day !
(BATT.CAP.or HAVE ALT.WRAPED for more power.

Okay i have a problem hifonics brutus 1500 mono d class amp

well your amplifier is obviously going into protect mode,(i used to have this amp and it is awesome) anyway i would go through just to be sure and check all the power connections with a test light, remote wire, positive, and ground. and check the fuse to see if it is still good. you can buy a test light at wal-mart and any automotive store. if you stil have a problem then i would check to see if your running below 1 ohm on this amp. that would cause it to go into protect mode. if all this fails i would just go buy a new one.

Power light

This could be a DC offset condition. Check you manual for what this means. Or other condition. First Disconnect the Subs and try it. If it still goes red then disconnect the RCA's and try it again. If the Led continues to go red after the click then the Amp is hosed. The Click you hear is an internal relay that cuts the subs in after a dely so you do not get the turn on THUMP of the radio at your subs.
