If you have sound on the stations this is a problem in the display. Take bright flashlight and hold it against the screen. Look for an image around the edge of the flashlight. If you see an image then it's one of three problems;
1) The inverter board is bad. 2) The CCFT (cold cathode fluoresent light) are bad. 3) The power supply to the inverter board is bad. Someone knowledgeable in electronics can replace the bad part(s).

Sounds like the backlight or backlight inverter is out on your TV.
You will likely want a seasoned professional to repair this for you assuming the TV is out of warranty.
The audio amplifier from your tv has just died - it happens. You need to open the back cover, locate the amplifying IC, unscrew the radiator from it, unsolder the IC, buy an exact replacement and solder it back.
this problem started on my LN-S4051D a couple of years ago. eventually the sound stopped working altogether. I then started using my surround sound speakers for the TV via optical out but soon that stopped working as well. I recently took the TV to a repair shop who said that the main board is bad and needs to be replaced. Labor plus parts was going to cost me $400. I said no thanks and paid for the estimate. Good luck.
If your TV is staying on and you hear audio after the picture goes dark, then you have a problem with a CCFL or the inverter circuitry that drives them.
Most likely an inverter problem.
Like a bad xformer (usually fogged up plastic wrapper)
Or a bad cap (bulged, swollen, cracked)
Or maybe a shorted IC or transistor (test for short circuit between the different pins of the device)
Did you see the back light at the back. If yes, the problem may come from T-Con board. Try other source like playing DVD AND If THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPEN, you may think of the main board defective.
Maybe the backlight is out, can you see a picture when shining a flashlight on the screen. if yes you have either a bad inverter power supply or bad screen (panel).
If it is only 6 months old you probably still have a warranty. This is definitely a hardware issue, and unless you are comfortable taking your new TV apart, I would contact Samsung for repair.
