Hitachi 60FX20B Over the last several months when turning on the tv, I get no picture or sound.(red light is on) Sometimes when turning it on & off several times it works and then sometimes it could be hours before picture & sound come on. Should I call a repair person or can I fix it myself.

the problem is most likely a defective light engine, it is a very commen problem with these tvs. hitachi is not very forthcoming with information or help unless your still under warrenty, i have talked with a few people about this and have found a lawyer starting a class action suit, if interested here is a segment of another conversation with all the info to get you started. " let other Hitachi TV owners know about the Class Action Lawsuit against Hitachi regarding the defective optical light engine. They need to call the Law Firm in Dallas Texas, HORP & B, that you mentioned is handling the case and talk to Victor @ 1-877-308-7900. They are taking documentation and cases regarding this suit and people that feel like they have been treated unfairly wherein Hitachi denied sending them a new optical light engine @ n/c need to call and state their case. TV always has high voltage shock risk while repair. As you said you are not familiar with TV repair so better to handle repair person this issue.
