If there are no Power light, you battery might be broken or your power button is broken,i suggest you to charge your battery or take it to notebook center (if charging still failed,it might be the button)

Only do this if you feel competent in doing so.

Can you measure amps on a power supply with a multimeter across the positive and negative posts

no --- you are measuring voltage or potential
to measure amps---current flow you have to put an amp meter in the circuit.
Some multi meters you can set to amps and by placing the + lead on the power supply and run the current though the meter to what ever you are powering will give a reading
Remember not to exceed the capacity of the meter or it will burn up in your hand.

Power supply problem no switching

( "Power Supply Problem Not Switching "???? )

How do you know it's Not Switching? Do you mean the TV wont turn on when you push the power button on and off on the TV and also with the remote control unit? Is that what you mean? If YES! Then, If your Vizio TV wont turn on and has NO-PICTURE, NO-SOUND and a BLACK SCREEN, Then the TV has an AC or a DC Voltage Problem.

1 - First, check the wall outlet socket by pluging in a lamp to see if you have 110 AC-volts there. If the lamp works, the wall outlet is OK! That means the problem is inside the TV.

2 - Before, you remove the back off the TV. I want to *(CAUTION - YOU)* The Power Voltages inside your TV are Very, DANGEROUS!!! There is 110 AC Volts at a 20-AMP-Rating ***CAN BE A LETHEL DEADLY SHOCK HAZARD to HUMANS!!!*** Also there are DC Voltages ranging from 3.3 to 24 volts. And R-F- VERY-HIGH-VOLTAGE of 20,000 Volts or More.

3 - You will need hand tools and a Digitle Volt Ohm Meter to check AC & DC Voltages and the OHMS Meter section to check resistors, capacitors, coils, grounds and contacts.

4 - With the Back removed, and no-power to the set. Inspect the power board for any signs of BURNED, LOOSE or BROCKEN parts like resistors, capacitors, coils, fuses on all boards. If you discover damaged parts, make a list of them. Then you must deside if you are qualified to do the on board repair or just order a new replacment board.

5 - If on the other hand you didn't discover any damaged parts by your inspection, It's time to put the Meter to good use. Plug the TV power cord to the wall outlet. Set the Meter for AC - voltage range of 200 or more. check for 110 AC volts going to the power supply board fused inputs.
If NO replace the cord. If YES, look on the board for voltage test points marked on the board. (SAMPLE!) 3.3 vdc, 5 vdc, 12 vdc, 24 vdc, and so on. Set Meter for DC Volts now, range 50 to 100. Put the black lead to ground and the RED lead to each test point marked on the board while repetetedly pressing the TV power on & off button..

6 - If ANY of the DC voltages were LOW, WRONG or MISSING, The Main power board is defective and needs to be removed and replaced with a new one. Write down the board number that is on the board and use that number to order the new one. You can order it on the Net!

*****(NOTE)***** If you are not an electronics tech. don't try to fix the old defective board... but, keep it handy, you might need it for parts later. :-)

Hope This helped... GOOD LUCK! NOW, GO FIX YOUR TV!

I cant get my power chair jet 3 to charge batteries are good

Hi valentin 201
I have owned my own business for 3 years and have been working on scooters and powerchairs for 15 years. . In the future give as much info about the scooter as possible.

1. load test the batteries even if you think they are good, check anyway. Sometimes even new batteries won't hold a charge.

2. Your charger on the powerchair must have enough volts to open the charger inhibitor. That is, the charger won't even start up if your batteries are low. Both batteries need to have at least 20-22 vdc.

3. Some chargers have a 3amp fuse check that and repace if needed.

4. With a multi meter set on dc200 check your batteries. Red on one battery and black on the other. Check to see what you get for voltage. If no voltage reverse the lead wire to the other posts. Once you get a reading of 20+ volts watch the meter and plug in the charger, it should increase the volts on the meter. if not the charger is bad, replace. Charger should be 24-31 volts to be a good charger.)

One of these sugestions will fix the problem

Good Luck

18 AWG is recommended for all wires except pin 11, which should be 22 AWG. For 300W configurations 16 AWG is recommended.
There are several ATX variants.

Fan on my big buddy heater just stopped working changed batteries still not working?tried the switch nothing .i only have radiant heat.

I would first check the wiring connections to fan and get a multi meter , set on 12 volts dc and see if fan motor has 12 vdc input voltage.
Too cheap to buy a voltage tester at wal mart ot harbor frieght, you can use a 12 volt bulb and socket, if you already have one. Remove fan wires & hook up 12 volt light bulb & if it lights, you got the juice. Carefull, dont let live wires touch because you short out $26.00 big buddy fan transformer. work with fan transformer unplugged from wall and dont plug in until you sure no wires touch.
use electrical or duct tape. electrical tape better.

otherwise, just buy the multi meter, they only $8.00 to $10.00
read & understand instructions, before you try to use it. otherwise, you could burn out your new meter.

well worth owning &
learning to use multi meter. I use it thousands of times.

if fan motor has juice but wont run, check fan shaft to see if it turns freely or scrapes or is stuck. oil fan motor bearings ,change the brushes.
make sure that the fan blades are not touching the fan housing and can turn freely.
if it still dont work, buy new fan motor.
if no juice at fan motor, check mr heater switch with the power off, unplug transformer from the wall or remove batteries.,
and use the ohm meter setting of the multi- meter to test for continuity of the switch when the switch is in the on position.
power must be off when using the ohm setting of a multimeter.
if power is on & using the ohm setting of the multi meter, you will blow out the multimeter. The ohm setting uses a 1.5 volt dc battery inside the multimeter to test for a compleated circuit.
so, 12volts dc would blow it out on ohms setting.
TESTING FOR OUTPUT OF FAN TRANSFORMER OR BATERY PACK.
If the switch is good, reinstall it on mr.heater and test the output of the transformer or battery compartment using the 20 volt dc scale of the multi meter. the voltage scale you select ,must be higher than the voltage you expect to find ,in order to avoid damage to the multi meter.
observe polarity, positive to red and negative to black.

the dc voltmeter setting is totally polarity sensitive and a reversed hook up could blow out the meter.
multi meter means it can read ac volts, dc volts, ohms and dc amps. Read and understand the included instructions before using a multi meter
a good single battery in new condition reads 1.62volts dc
1.5 vdc is almost dead, a good used battery reads 1.58 to 1.6 vdc
below 1.58 vdc is weak battery and 1.48 vdc is usually totally dead, but may be enough for momentary usage under 1 minute.

The battery does not charge anymore ,the bios setting says idle

remove battery and reseat.
Use VOM (Volt-Ohm Meter) and phsically check to make sure the power supply is putting out advertised voltage (typically 19-20 VDC)
Make sure power supply recepticle (the female part on the laptop itself) has not been broken or reamed out such that contact is not being made.

When you plug power supply in, does the charging light on the laptop come on?
