Installed new network and can see the printer on the network but will not print

We installed a new router and modem. We have printer connected to router with an Ethernet cable and when we add new printer we see the printer with the correct ip address but after it is set up we cannot print a test page. Have rebooted, reinstalled and am using new cable. Any ideas? Tried calling product support at Lewan assoc the company we got it from and we are on the fourth day of waiting for a return call and are out of patience

Plug the printer into the computer instead of the router.

Go to: http://www.sharpusa.com/products/business/copiers/business_copiers_drivers/
and select the copier and OS that you use. Download the PCL5e driver. When you finish downloading, you might have to extract it from the zip format, then run the setup.exe file and follow the prompts.

SOURCE: Can't install

If you can ping its IP, you have that part correct.
What you may be having is a firewall issue.
If your firewall protection is not allowing an exception for that IP address, you can ping the machine, yet the data being sent will be blocked.
I have seen this several times in setting up printers, you have to go into your firewall and set up an exception for the IP address on your firewall.
I suspect that is the issue. Not uncommon.

SOURCE: printer is not geting my print commands

What driver are you using on your vista machine? It would be better to load a local printer on your laptop and create a standard TCP/IP port using the address everyone else is using and load the driver locally instead of network printer. Also if you are using a print server to make it networkable you probably need the GDI version of the print driver loaded not the PCL5 or 6. It can be downloaded from sharpusa.com. PCL driver only works if PCL Print option is installed on the device. This would also give you a nic port on the copier as well, so if you have print server you probably don't have that option. If you need more specific details let me know.

Hope this helps,

SOURCE: Ip address IR2800

You need to tell copier the IP, gateway and subnet. If you have DHCP set Ip on auto.

New att modem installed and now lexmark interpret s405printer will not work

You'll have to reconnect your printer back to your wireless network since you changed the router.

You can just reinstall the software for your printer and connect your printer to your network.

Printer is offline

What type of printer are you having a problem with? Is it on and do you see any error messages on the printer? How is it connected to the computer? Do you have the driver installed? Some printers need to have the driver installed with a USB connection before moving to a network install. (For all-in-ones, the driver/software must be installed before you connect the data cable.)

If a wired connection, try new cables (fully seated) and different ports. If it is a USB connection, try a direct connection if the printer is connected to a USB hub or print server. Make sure that the cord is 6' or shorter. Check if other devices work. (I've seen a few computers loose their USB ports for no apparent reason. On desktops, try rebooting the computer and uninstalling the USB drivers and rebooting again. This is in the Device Manager for Windows machines. On a few laptops, sometimes removing the battery and the power adapter will reset the ports.)

For network connections, make sure that your network is up and that you aren't getting signal loss issues (for wireless networks). Try a wired connection to check for network loss. To check a network, I tend to check a few points with the ping command. For Windows, launch the Command prompt and ping the numerical IP location of your router. Then ping the IP location of the DNS server. Can you see the printer on your list of network places. (The format for ping is
ping 192.168.1.1 or ping www.google.com followed by enter. The returned message will be either the time for a small packet of data to go to the location and return or a connection timed out.)

If you are losing your network connection, reboot your router and broadband modem. (Try rebooting the router first.) Make sure your firewall is not blocking access to the printer.

I hope this helps. Please write back for more information with specifics for your printer.

I have a computer with windows xp connected with usb to my canon pixma mp780 and connected to my network my laptop with windows 7 is connected with wlan to the network.the laptop see the printer but i...

I've had a similar problem trying to print to a printer that was not on my laptop but connected to the network through a desktop that was connected to the WiFi router and a cable modem.

If you can see the printer, maybe the driver is already installed.
In my experience, I had to log on as the administrator to print to the printer but I have windows 7 on all 4 of my computers.

I don't have xp anymore.

Maybe xp is the problem.

We have an Offline message when attempting to print. We have unplugged the printer, unplugged the router, modem and shut down the computers and then restarted all. We still have the problem.

Usually these messages are from communication issues between the computer and the printer. I have to go to the printers support/driver site and download the latest and greatest drivers for that printer that matches the operating system. I then uninstall the printer and get rid of all software and drivers for it. Make sure the printer is unplugged and off. Install the new drivers. If this printer is connected to a router and all computers in the home access it through the network, then it can be reinstalled simply by powering it up, attaching it to the router with an ethernet cable, opening up the control pane > click on printers > click on add printer > choose network printer > windows will search the network and find the printer and display it. Highlight the printer when it displays and click ok. Windows will install and initiate the printer and ask you if it is to be the default printer and will ask if you want it to print a test page.

If this printer is connected to the computer via usb cable, once the drivers are installed, attach the cable to the printer and start it up, windows will recognize the hardware and automatically load the drivers you installed. It may want to search windows update for an updated driver, click ok and let windows set the printer up....that includes all communication protocols.

Network printer now not working

If the printer was working before on an old router then when you installed the new router it changed the IP address of the printer. You can delete the old printer and go to add a printer, select network printer, choose browse for printers and it should show up in the list. When you select it the new address will be assigned. Good Luck

Printing from a home network

Well its noting to do with your router. If the printers are not printing on the network, you need to check the printer drivers first of all,and see if they say 0 ready with a green check mark,If yes then check the ip address of the printer and double check for the same on the computer. They have to be the same if it has to print. If its not the same uninstall the printer drivers and the reinstall it.That should fix it once and for all.

Lost connectivity to network printer when switched to ATT u-Verse

Is the printer connected via wireless? When I recently connected up a new wireless printer to my UVerse network, the printer manual said that establishing the first connection works better via an Ethernet cable directly to the Uverse router. After the printer is set up once, then I could remove the ethernet cable and connect to the printer via wireless from all my computers.
For all wireless PCs that were previously connected via wireless to dsl, you need to create a new network connection for each one, then enter the key that is listed on the side of your Uverse router when prompted. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to establish the connection.
I am amazed that ATT was so unhelpful on these issues. I was one of their first Uverse customers in Texas, and several times over the last years, techs would visit my house to solve a problem or hook something up, explaining to me as he went. That their helpful attitude is deteriorating is a real shame.

Hl 5250dn internet connection problem

1- I have been warned by various Tech support persons that a laser printer should not be connected to a UPS. Too much current drain, and laser's cannot handle the stepped wave form that most UPS units intended for home office use produce. Printer damage I was told was possible.

2- I have planned to Network this same printer on my newly bought Linksys wireless router but had plenty of issues to resolve to to ensure a stable network using shared resources between my laptop and desktop computer-- other than shring an Internet cable modem connection.

If this is a network printer that is not attached to a printer server [computer]
you have to use the "local printer" option according to the add printer wizard.

If this printer is connected to another computer that is on the network, have you established at least two way file sharing thru My Network Places? I think you likewise have to give specific permission on that computer to assign that printer as a shared resource.

There is help on this topic under F1 [Help]
"connect to another printer that is attached to another computer. "
