Hello, I am having an issue with my Ipod. It gives me an error code when I plug it in saying that it cannot sync because the files or directory has become corrupt and unreadable. Someone on the Apple site suggested (to someone else with a simular issue) that this could be caused by locked files in the directory. I am good at following step-by-step instructions, but have no clue how to even access this directory so I can *see* if anything is locked. Any ideas? Thanks!! every time I try to sync I get the iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. I have removed and re installed iTunes several times and I cant seem to get it to work
Because you have all your music already backed up onto your pc you can safely erase your ipod. Have you already tried to do a restore on it yet. To do this connect the ipod to the pc and in itunes on the ipods main screen click the Restore button, then choose the bottom most option if it gives you any. If it says to erase the device anywhere, all the better, select that one.
If that doesn't work, assuming you're on a pc and not a mac, open 'My Computer', right click the ipod, select 'Properties' then erase it as you would any harddrive. Once you have done either of these you can resync it in itunes.
All the best

i have the same problem with my iPod classic (160gb)!
if you have a PC (not mac) follow the following steps:
1) go to MY COMPUTER
2) click ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS
3) delete QUICK TIME
4) open iTunes
5) DO NOT RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. if a message asks you if you want to restart your computer manually or automatically, IGNORE IT.
6) continue syncing.
7) a lot of music/video will go on to your iPod in that time (about 13 min. of syncing)
8) NOW: restart your computer and download quicktime from iTunes again
my Apple technician said that the problem is in quick-time, not itunes and that i should re-install is separately
i hope that helps. :)
tell me if it does!
