I bought a 2nd hand Necchi Lydia3 544.Tried stiching but needle thread keeps breaking. Could thread quality have anything to do with it?

Yes quality of thread could definitely affect sewing, as will a blunt/old/wrong size needle for the material used. Also must have same thread in bobbin and needle also corect thread and needle size for material sewn plus correct tension for that material too. Could be lint or tangled threads underneath needle plate too.

My machine is Janine 382. When I try to stitch , the bobbin thread does comes up but when I continue with the fabric, it gets jammed .and the upper thread breaks. It seems like it tries to take the fabric...

Hi, here are a few reasons it could be.1. use same thread in bobbin and needle.2. thread too old. 3. Cheaper thread frays and knots.
4.Thread and/or needle, incorrect size for the material sewn
5. Incorrect tension for the material sewn. And 6, thread tangled underneath feed dogs or bobbin. Hope this helps. :-)

Why is my machine sewing loose loopy stiches on the back of the fabric? Have adjusted tension, rethreaded machine and changed thread but non of these things have worked.

Is it a new needle? Also make sure that the needle size, tension, thread thickness etc, is suitable for the fabric sewn. Sometimes there is a whole host of lint and threads jammed underneath the needle plate and under that, this could cause that problem too. : -)

Janome mini heavy duty sewing machine

when you sew keep a eye on the thread take up lever & see if the thread comes off while your sewing, I've had this happen to me & I've been sewing for over 30 years. if this does happen, take a pair of pliers & very gently close the take up lever just alittle but not enough to damage it.
also check the needle to see if it's damaged--if your not sure change the needle--flat side goes to the back of the machine
always make sure the fabric & needle & thread are compatable--the thread must be able to pull thru the needle with out any problem
also check to make sure there are not any burrs on the needle plate or bobbin or bobbin case

Sewing on reverse of fabric

There has to be thread on both sides of the cloth in order to form a stitch.

Refer to the maintenance section of your machine and clean the machine as recommended.

Did you change the thread or needle?

Check the manual to be sure the threading is correct and was done with the presser foot up.

Is the needle is correctly installed?

Check the bobbin to be sure the thread is feeding in the correct direction and through the guides on the side of the bobbin case.

The top needle unthreads after just a few stiches. I have a Singer 2950 and am new to sewing.

Are you saying that the thread is breaking?

CAUSES of upper thread breaking

needle is in backwards
improperly threaded
tension to tight
needle bent or blunt
thread to coarse for size of needle
needle too long for machine
burr on needle
tension discs worn so that thread works in grove
neele too fine for size of thread and fabric
lint or dirt around bobbin case holder
irregular sewing speed
threads not properly pulled back under pressure foot when starting to sew
This means, Have enough of the upper and lower thread pulled to the back and hold for the first 2-3 stiches,

Do this every time and it will become second nature and you will do it automatically

Bobbin thread is loose (under stich)

Not a tension problem, refer to manual and rethread the top thread, 95% + this fixes problem.

Thread in needle or bobbin keeps on breaking

The tread only breaks in the needle. what can i do . i don't get to sew anything . I tread the needle and get everything ready and start the machine and as quickly as that the tread is broken and the machine has not sewn at all.

The thread knots up under the feed dog on about the second stitch

hi! well, you can try to set up your thread accurately followed this
53de094.jpg fig.bobbins se up of thread.the thread should be clockwise rotation coming out to bobbins casing, insert thread on slot to acquired bobbins tension.after setting up you insert your bobbins on shuttle set up your upper thread tension.on fig is just a sample.9cbc7d3.jpg follow the red thread set, try this on single straight sewing with dial stich set up to # 8 range to #17,Dial tension to # 3. use cotton/polyester foe sample sewing. try on hand maual sewing first several time before applying foot pedal to avoid needle breakage,

Trouble with sensor

The upper thread sensor on most Brother's is activated by the check spring. Either your check spring has broken or is stuck. You may be able to fix this if you can get to it. A drop of oil may be all you need. I may be able to give more specific advise if you tell me what model it is.

Good luck!
