In addition to the suggestions of running a sypware and a registry scanner you should also try: - Scanning for root kits, free one here: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/39798/lng/us/tpl/v5 - Make sure your anti-virus scanner is current, functioning and has performed a total scan recently. - Just before you try to browse the Internet hit the Ctrl, Alt and Del keys and select task manager: -Check the Physical memory available section and make sure you have at least 80000 (80MB) free. Anything less would cause the same problem. -Check the CPU usage, anything over 40% over time would cause sluggishness as well. Also before running the spyware, virus, root-kit and registry scanners it is important to ensure you have a good backup of your data. Running a registry editor in particular is a dangerous thing to do, especially if your registry is damaged or bloated as yours may be.

Easy fix!!! First, download Adaware (it's free!!) and install and run, make sure that you get rid of any spyware. Next, goto: Start -> Run and type in "msconfig" (without quotes) In the General tab, make sure that the "Selective Start up" is checked off Now, goto the last tab labelled "Start Up" If there is anything that is in CAPITAL LETTERS, make sure that you uncheck the box next to it as this will disable the start up. In most cases, files starting up in all capital letters are spyware/viruses. As a matter of fact, you can actually uncheck everything in there. (I'm sure that you don't use your printer every time that you turn it on, or your IM, or your photo editor, etc.) You can start these programs from the All Programs menu...the start up is just to make them load faster WHEN you actually want to use them, but slows down the start up of your PC. Afterwards, goto: Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup Run this program and get rid of all your crap on there (I bet you have about 3-4G of trash to get rid of...this will take about 1-4hrs depending on your machine) Then, goto System Tools again, but this time run Disk Defragmenter.

You know, I can accept a "average" rating if you tried it out and it didn't work up to par...but if your just rating it to rate it...Then I'm sure that most of us would rather that you didn't rate it at all.

What I posted is the exact procedure I use to clean most people's PC's with...and have never had a problem in speeding the PC up after updating.

I've added my own ratings...I only gave a good rating to asoke due to saying that he thought it was a Mac, which everyone knows that Compaq's are either Windows or Linux...and if they are here, then it's most likely Windows.

sinder, on the otherhand, added rootkit detections which I completely forgot about, but if you have a router or a good firewall then rootkits are the least of your problems.

I do not know what type of OS (Windows or Mac) you are using. In case you are using one Windows PC - first of all please clean your registry. You can download one 30 day trial version of registry mechanic and install and run that program to fix all sorts of your PC problems. The download URL is http://www.iolo.com/sm/7/ In case you are not purchasing this product - please do not forget to uninstall systems mechanic from your PC. I am sure you will get result. Thanking you, Regards Asoke Mukherjee [email protected]

E-mail not loading properly on PC/how do I fix?

How is your internet connection? I ran that same problem last year, so I upgraded to a faster internet and didnt ran into that problem again. You might want to check how much memory you are using, once you are reaching the limits it tends to be slower in operating, (running programs, internet, turning on etc...)

My laptop is sort of running slower and I wondered if it was because my space is almost full on my laptop? And I also wanted to know if I can do anything to make it go back to normal. One other thing is...

First of all, simply delete your browsing history and cookies. Websites will sometimes download cookies or copies of their pages to your hard drive for faster loading later. The unfortunate thing is that this can slow down your pc. Using your browser, delete your browsing history, cookies, and all offline content.

If your computer takes a long time to boot up, take note of how many programs you have loading on start up. Pay attention to the bottom right of your screen and watch the icons. Having a large amount of programs loading on start up will make your boot times considerably slower. Open these programs and tell them not to start on start-up, or simply delete them if you don't use them.

Sometimes spyware or other malware will be downloaded to your computer and can adversly affect performance. I suggest downloading a spyware deleting program like Lavasoft's AdAware. It is free and reliable. When you use it, make sure that you update the definitions each time to make sure you search for the newest spyware. Try running the tests at least once a week.

My 5 year old computer is getting slower and slower, takes 5 - 10 minutes to boot up in the morning, is slow to open up attachments and move from application to application.

Most likely due to low available disk space on the hard drive. Items like system restore and the fact that windows does not report partially used clusters as Used (If any part of a file is written to a cluster, that cluster is dedicated to that file regardless of how much is not being used, even though windows reports it free)

So freeing up disk space is one option.

You can also use applications like Advanced System Care to tune up your system

My computer takes five minutes to load. Why

if you have xp computer follow the process given below:-
start/run/type msconfig/ click startup/disable all/apply and then click services and at the bottom check the box which says hide all microsoft services// restart the computer// it will load faster//
if you have vista follow the same process after typing the msconfig in the start/start search at the bottom//
even if it is slow then 100% your computer is effected by virus//
get it cleaned by the local tech//

Why can callers not hear my voice on my LG KS360? Call volume is on full. Sometimes callers get no sound & sometimes very low volume.

i found the solution on the internet:
I've had this problem with mine. It got continually longer and other functions seemed to be running slower. At worst, it took 40 seconds to hear an outgoing call. I cleared the call log and that helped and it seemed to get slower again as the log got longer until I cleared it again.
I think the call log might be getting loaded in the background and using more resources as it gets larger but that's mostly a guess.

Everythimg is slow

Beatriceccc: This can frequently happen when Vista runs on a computer that's hardware just can't keep up with it. I'd like to have you try this for me. Click on your start menu, then "Right click" on "computer" in the left column. This will take you to a page, that will give you something called the Microsoft Rating. If you can comment back to this post with the details of the overall rating, as well as the specific categories, we'll be able to provide better assistance.
Was this computer pre-installed with vista? or did you upgrade from XP? What is the model number of your machine? All of this will help us to help you.
