Remote randomly works. 27" Symphonic TV... but remote works on other Symphonics in the house

My remote for my TV has suddenly stopped working. It works randomly, like if i sit their and just press the button over and over about 100 times. I mainly use my TV to play my PS3, but can not get into Game mode without the remote. My sister has almost the same TV and remote, but her remote will not work on my tv either, but my (thought to be broken) remote does work on her TV. Any help would be greatful.

how do i switch to video mode with the remote?

  • Anonymous Jan 15, 2008

I also have the same problem. I have a 27 inch in living room and 13 inch in bedroom, both symphonic's. Neither controller now works on big tv ( both use to) but both work on little tv. I have know idea why, or what the problem is. Frustrating for sure. Think its time for a new tv, new brand name also.

I believe the issue is going to be the TV, not the remote. I bought a universal remote and programmed it correctly. It was working for a while, but I noticed that at the same time the universal worked, so did my original. The opposite is also true. I will dig and see if there's a simple fix. I doubt it, though.

I would get a new remote control first. Just because it is the same brand doesn't mean the same reote codes are used.

I have the same TV & problem.
The problem is Not with the remote but with the remote receiving circuit in the TV. The remote works once in a while.
Anyone have the TV schematic diagram?

I have a symphonic 27 inch tv and need the code

Google the model number of remote and the set for "manual" which should have possible codes.

With the manual for the remote look to see if it has a search mode which will allow you to try every possible code one at a time to find one that works.

Universals even if programmed will be missing key features the original remote had.

Tv won't recognize remote codes

If the manufacturer of the universal remote cannot give you codes for the Symphonic you are out of luck. U will either have to get an original replacement or get a Harmony universal remote.

TV will not work with good remote.

Sounds like the IR pickup has gone bad or the supply voltages feeding it are opened. Sometimes cleaning the screen with windex it tends to drip inside as it follows the picture tube down into the set . Most of the time replacing the IR cures your problem. Good luck
