For front or front tray loading printers, shiny side down... for rear/back loading printers.., shiny side up. Pictures should be visible coming out of the exit slot. Using pre-cut photo paper requires some technique, if the paper holder does not have an adjustable paper width feature. Feed paper in one sheet at a time to prevent jambs.

On the control panel for the printer, there's a Feed Switch button that's easily touched by accident. Ensure the Feed Switch is set to the paper source you're using (e.g. either the back or front). The graphic of the printer next to the Feed Switch button will light up to indicate the paper tray it's attempting to use.

Using a q-tip clean the rollers with rubbing alcohol.
Try different paper. The fact that it grabs more than one page means the paper or rollers are dirty.

Canon ir2520 jamming in the exit tray

If your Canon IR2520 is jamming in the exit tray after initializing the machine, it could be caused by a few different issues:
  • Paper tray: Make sure that the paper tray is loaded correctly and that the paper is not jammed or loaded incorrectly. Also, check if the paper tray is not overfilled or if the paper is not wrinkled.
  • Pick-up roller: The pick-up roller is responsible for picking up paper from the tray and feed it to the printer. Check if it is dirty or worn out.
  • Exit guide: The exit guide is responsible for directing the paper out of the machine. Make sure that it is not blocked or bent, which could cause the paper to jam.
  • Fuser: The fuser unit could be malfunctioning. The fuser is responsible for heating and fusing the toner to the paper. If it is not working properly, it could cause paper jams.
  • Feed rollers: The feed rollers are responsible for feeding the paper through the printer. Check if they are dirty or worn out.
  • Paper jam sensor: The paper jam sensor may be malfunctioning. If the sensor is not working correctly, it may not detect a jam and the printer will continue to try to feed paper through.
  • It is recommended to check the copier's manual or consult with the manufacturer's technical support to troubleshoot the problem. They may provide more specific instructions for your specific model and can guide you through the process of finding and fixing the problem.
These are general suggestions and your specific case may require different actions.

I have a Pixma MG5220 printer I bought in January. When we try to load the paper, a screen comes up and says No paper. we have hit the OK button as instructed.

There are two paper sources on this unit, One is a cassette tray, a drawer in the lower front. You may have that source chosen, and no paper in it. I recommend using that tray for your regular plain paper.

Loading your paper
Paper loading tips:
● Load paper with the side to be printed facing down.
● You can print photos and documents on a wide variety of paper sizes, from
8 x 13 cm (3 x 5 inch) up to 22 x 61 cm (8.5 x 24 inch). The 10 x 15 cm
(4 x 6 inch) photo paper is available with and without tabs.
● Before loading paper, pull the Main paper tray out (use the Main tray release or
the tray grips) and slide out the paper-width and paper-length guides to make
room for the paper. After loading paper, adjust the guides to fit close to the edges
of the paper without bending the paper. When finished loading paper, push the
Main tray back in all the way.
● Load only one type and size of paper at a time in the same tray.
● After loading paper, extend the Output tray extension to catch your printed pages.

I think that if you use the bottom tray to load the paper, you can use the different sizes of paper to print. Make sure to click the second button inside the lid that shows the direction the paper is fed into the printer. hope this helps!
