TV Problem a week ago we started having a blue spot in middle of the screen, not that bad but you could notice it. Last night we went to watch tv and the whole screen was red. You could still see the picture. we have never replaced the lamps could this be a lamp problems?

Thank you tvtek for your help. We had this tv work on back in march 2005. I really can't believe that it is messed up again. That is a really costly part. They don't make tv's like they used to. My grandma has one that is 30 years old and this one is not even four years old. So there is no other fix? Would it even be worth fix'in? Thanks

It is a failure in the light engine itself. You will need to have it replaced. Here is a link to that rather costly part. http://www.partstore.com/Part/Hitachi+Ltd/Hitachi/50V500/Hitachi+Ltd/Hitachi/UX22201D/New.aspx

Unfortunatley not. I have repaired TV's for over 25 years now and yes I have seen a degration in durability. Then again TV's look better than they ever have, they have more features abd thier cost are ultimatley falling.

Picture has a blue shadow

Hi,
Seems convergence out IC is fried in TV so it gives blue shadow.

Check out Convergence Out IC which you need to replace in TV, if you have enough experience of repair of big TV, necessary tools and know basic electronics.

Light green and pink spots on my hd tv!!!

Hi--Bought my panasonic pt-52lcx65 on sale for $2200 in 8/05. Replaced the lamp for about $300 in 1/08, just prior to Superbowl. Admittedly, this was to be expected after family members watched lots of tv over 30 months. However, two months later the blue spot emerged in 3/08, and red spot emerged 5/08. Set looks decorated by a Andy Warhol or Van Gogh wannabe. I'm looking for a fix it solution. Dr. Bob Heiliger, Lebanon, OH.

Light green and pink spots on my hd tv!!!

Tiny particles of dust on the light engine lens can cause this (and was a service call for me about a month ago), or possibly the expensive light engine.
