Bezel cracked and hinge problem, difficult to close
I have a ASUS U64E that I purchased 2/2012 and repaired in 8/2013.
At six months, the lid hinges started becoming lose and noisy. I removed the
hinge covers to tighten the hinge-to-case screws but they were not loose. It
was difficult to tell what the problem was without further disassembly. I let
the situation alone until recent failure of the one hinge with the opposite
side also near failure.
With the laptop out of the one year warranty, I searched and
watched various Youtube videos on ASUS screen replacement as the screen needs
to be removed to gain access to the lid hinge mount points. The failure is the with
lid hinge mounts to the lid frame.
My repair involved 1) regluing the lower part of the lid
inner frame to the lid, and 2) reducing the friction of the hinges by loosening
the hinge nut about 1/8th of a turn. On my unit, the hinge friction
was too tight putting a lot of stress on the hinge mount. I used Gorilla glue
for the repair.
The following videos are helpful for removing the screen:

I also removed the keyboard and touchpad assembly to inspect
and clean the cooling fan which was very dirty.
The repair is holding and the lid action feels good with the
reduced friction.
Replacing a hinge, or both of them, isn't very tough. Check out this WEB site.

You can get replacement parts for this laptop, however it can get expensive. At the end of the day, you can use a super glue that is safe to use around electrical parts, but you might be better off just using an external monitor if you don't need to carry your laptop around.

Depending on the damage you can try to super glue it back.
Apart from that you will have to take it to a laptop repair shop and see what they say.

Check your speaker terminal connection going into your laptop to make sure it is not shorting or falling out. Try using a pair of headphones to see if this issue is still present.
Else, try updating to the newest sound card driver, available here:
