GE 25GT270 TV had a jumpy picture for a short time, then TV shut down. Afterward, smelled a burning smell. What happened and can I fix it?

Check its vertical output section circuit for damaged component/s. Check the vertical output IC.

Does not have 3 color connections. Can you hook up a DVD player?

you must use the "Composite" video output (the single yellow plug, with the red/white for audio of course) of the DVD player. Tube TVs rarely have "Component" connections because they are primarily used for 480P and above resolutions, which tubers can't produce. If your TV and DVD player have "S-Video" connections, use them for the best possible picture.
