I am new to this site. Can anyone let me know what could be the problem and how to fix it. My Roper Washer makes lot of noice during the spinning cycle. I believe the wash cabin is rotating irregularly. Any help is appreciated
This happened on mine as well. I determined that the clutch was bad. These are not belt driven but rather direct drive with a clutch/brake that controls the spins and agitate functions.
Try washing an empty or very small load (like tshirts and underclothes) and see if that helps.
ALso look underneath to see if there is any oil on the ground if so you most likley will need to replacet he cltuch mechanism... not an easy task for do it yourselfer!

Most of the time that is lid switch failure. The lid switch must be engaged before the tub can spin. You can bypass the lidswitch to see if that is the problem. The lidswitch has 3 wires. 2 live wires and one ground wire which is green and bolted to the frame. Tie the 2 live wires together and see if the washer will work. You can use it that way but is could cause harm if anyone was to try and grab clothes out the tub while it is spinning full blast.
Their is no belt. The washer uses a double shafted motor which drives the pump on one end and the tranny on the other end. You must have a small item of clothing in the tub to pump hose. This washer is easy as pie to repair by anyone. Just a few inexpensive tools and you can fix this washer. Here is a link to 4 videos and a training manual. How it works: Direct drive washer
Lid switch. A safety mechanism used to make sure lid is closed in spin cycle. You can bypass this switch by placing the wires that go to switch together. DO NOT do this if you have children or do not want to remove that safety feature some require because they dont know better than to open a washer in spin cycle. :)
