That will be the screen driver chip faulty or even the luminance set too high. Try turning the brightness down and if there's a dark picture it's the chip, if not maybe even the flexi strip from the base to screen.

Unfortuneately the LCD panel is defective, on the back of the screen there is a large circuit board that process colour and hue balance and video content, to replace would be more than what the player is worth.

sorry but the backlight for your lcd has gone out, its a manufacture defect though so warranty should apply

Your unit may have a loose connection from motherboard to the display (video cable inside the unit), another distinct possibility is that the video processor chip is damaged or there is a power supply problem for the video chip (a bad electrolytic cap or similar somewhere around the video IC).
You can check the connection, but you'll need to take the unit apart, also check other connectors, but if it's an IC problem, this could get difficult or/and costly.

Please note that these are only suggestions and that the problem may as well be something else.

the problem is not the lamp.

This model has a set of two backlight lamps, and it is practically impossible that both lamps go faulty at the same time.

When the backlight lap in an LCD TV goes off in this way, the faulty part is always the backlight inverter, that is the high voltage board powering the lamp.

In your case you have to get the TV inverter booard replaced.

Sounds like the backlight isn't working, could be the flourescent tube or the inverter that powers it. At least those are the likely suspects in other LCD monitors that have similar problems.

Look on ebay, if you still see the video, then it is just the backlight that is broken. Put in your model and add the word parts to your search. Be sure to read if the parts one you are buying has a working backlight.
