How to prgram the vtech 5.8 dial tone to touch tone

Since you declined to specify the model of your VTech 5.8GHz phone, I can only suggest that you enter it into the search box here to download a copy of the manual. The manual will describe how to switch between pulse and tone dialing.

I have got a Panasonic KX-TG7220NL. Cannot change from pulse back to tone. How to do that?

First of all, here is the main ONLINE SUPPORT page for your model:

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Phones-Fax/Telephones/Bluetooth-Enabled-Systems/Operating-Instructions/model.KX-TG7622B.O#ts

And here is a direct link to the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for that model:

http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/KXTG7622-MUL.PDF

To view the Support Page or the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents.
You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.
Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, then follow the onscreen instructions to install the software on your computer.

See page 18 of the manual for detailed instructions on how to switch between TONE and PULSE dialing. Basically it reads as follows:

Dialing mode

If you cannot make calls, change this setting according to your telephone line service.
The default setting is "Tone".
"Tone": For tone dial service.
"Pulse": For rotary/pulse dial service.

1 - MENU # 120

2 - Use UP / DOWN arrow keys to select the desired setting.

3 - Select SAVE and then OFF

I hope that was helpful to you, good luck and take care.

Joe.

The phone lights up when put to charge also the red light on the base,, but when the phone line is connected it wont work ..What do u think is the problem?

The battery in the handset could be bad . First I would test that the base unit is recieving dial tone by pressing speaker button on base unit. If there is dial tone then problem is in handset or in base unit communication to handset. Try resetting power to base unit. Check manual for any re-initialization procedure. If the base unit is not receiving dial tone then I would test that the phone line is delivering dial tone to the base unit by connecting a known good phone to the line cord. If the dial tone is not present , problem could be in line cord from outlet, outlet, building wiring, or service provider.

Can't change to pulse dialing

The Vetech phone will only support tone dialing. It does have a menu option that turns tone on or off but it still will not allow pulse dialing. I had to change the phone service from pulse dialing to tone dialing to get the phones to work. As it turned out, the phone company no longer charges extra for the tone service.

I have a Brother MFC 7220 - it won't print but says manual feed. Also the telephone is not working. All this was fine yesterday. The machine is about 1 year old.

Hi zoltansz
Have you tried the following
Use the telephone cord going in to machine on a regular telephone. If this works cord is fine. Plug cord back in to machine. Press the dial button on machine if you hear a dial tone check the settings for Pulse / Tone dialing (refer to manaul). If you don't here any dial tone the fax modem on the machine is faulty (posible lightning strike on telephone line. You will then have to take the machine in to a service centre.
Please feel free to uase the Repair Service Directory on this site to locate a service centre close to you.

Toshiba SD -H400

It sucks that you can't dial in anymore, but if you have broadband internet there is an easy solution. You can buy for about $20 on Newegg a LiInksys USB200M USB ethernet adapter that allows your Tivo to connect to the Tivo service using your broadband internet. If you modem is in fact dead, this may be the only chance you have at getting Tivo to connect again. I have 2 SD-H400 and I don't (and have never) use the telephone line. I use the broadband connection only and have never had a problem.

Even if you don't have broadband you can get this to work with the USB200M and dial up too. You'll have to connect to your dial up provider using your PC, then set your PC up to use Windows built in "Internet Connection Sharing". You then connect your Tivo to you PC using an ethernet cable. If the cable goes directly from the Tivo to the PC, you'll need a crosswired or crossover ethernet cable. If you have a network switch or network hub in between, you can use a regular network cable. Use your Tivo menus to "Connect to the Tivo Service Now" and it should connect and get any Guide or Software Updates that are available. Keep in mind this will be painfully slow as dial up internet is much slower than broadband.

This problem could also be caused by a recent switch in telephone connection. If you are now using a Voice Over IP (VOIP) telephone, I don't think Tivo will connect with that type of phone line. You're only option then will be the USB200M and some type of network connection to the internet.

Tivo box

If you have call waiting or another service, make sure you have any codes you need in the dialing prefix. if you have dsl, make sure you have a phone filter on the line coming from the tivo.

Has your phoneline w/ the tivo ever worked? or is this just new?

You can try another phonejack in the house. You can also try a different dialing #. Sometimes they take them down.

If you have a broadband connection, you can use a usb to ethernet adapter and dial in over your network. It's quicker and doesn't tie up your phoneline.

Fax problem

I want to make sure I understand this completely. You get no dial tone from the fax machine when hooked up to VOIP. In the past, was there an audible dial tone from the fax, or did it just dial silently and give you an error if there was no tone? When you said you got a dial tone by connecting a phone to the ext phone port of "the machine" did you mean the fax machine? If you get a dial tone by running a phone through the fax machine, then the line is good. I have used a fax machine over Sunrocket before they went defunct, which used the same technology base as Vonage - so it should work. If you used to get an audible dial tone when using the fax, and no longer do, and you are geting a dial tone on a regular phone that is connected to the ext. port of the fax machine, then the problem has to be in the fax machine itself, not the VOIP. If you can verify that, we can go from there.
