I found my Kenwood KDC322 faceplate doing the same thing(cutting out) I cleaned the contact points on this 'ribbon' behind the faceplate by rubbing the discoloration off with a pencil eraser. The lights have not cut out again.

This may sound silly, but please check the setup of the amp. You can have the unit in "bridge" mode and have the speakers connected to both channels like it was in stereo mode and it will appear to work. This is not a good setup, but it can happen. In this case, only 1 of the controls will alter the volume.
Other than that, the volume control itself can be defective or the control circuit may be faulty. Without checking components inside, I can't say for sure.
Please note that these units have high voltages inside when powered on and can be dangerous. This is a pro unit and it not really a DIY repair unit. I would suggest that you seek professional assistance for this unit. I havce had a few of these for 15 years problem free with much use. Getting it repaired correctly will cost upto $200 (or more) but it worth it. This is a $1500 unit.
There is a power issue,tv goes into standby (safety) mode. For self-diagnostics, press Display,channel,5,volume - minus not plus, then press power. You have no horizontal output, check IC206,C516,C515....for service mode press Display,Channel,5,volume + plus, then power,press8,then enter......hope this helps....
the problem is with the control panel of your tv...make sure your remote doesnt have any part in this...just remove and the batteries and check if the channels still are changing.....see if the onboard switch for channel changing is stuck ?..if stuck u can use homemade tools to pull it back......if your tv is within your gurantee period...just giv a call to customer care....if not u can take it to a local repair shop...there is nothin that u can urself do to make it right ...sorry....for further info contact at
