Question about Samsung Yepp YP-Z5AB / YP-Z5AS MP3 Player

Open Question

Can't connect my YP-Z5F to the PC, probably soft is corrupted.

It was working for 5 or 6 months but now when I try to connect my YP-Z5F to the PC the page 'USB connecting' appears and after one second just disappears and standard menu is displayed. PC does not see any new disc and I'm not sure if the charging is active (charging indicator is displayed but one time when it was connected whole day when I disconnected it there was 'Low battery' indicator displayed, when I connected it back there was information displayed that the USB is disabled due to low battery, but even if battery is fully recharged no connection PC-USB can be established). Moreover when I tried to display software version on my YP-Z5F there was 'System error' message displayed and no version information (main menu appeard). So it seems that the soft is corrupted but how can I format this disc and upload new soft without connecting to PC ? Any help ? (reseting it also not helping which is obvious why).

SOURCE: Samsung YP-Z5F MP3 player malfunction

I have that kind of Mp3 Player too... that happened to me, but the PC was able to read mine. However, the reason why the message: "Low Battery USB Disabled" appears, is that you still have remaining battery life, but will only last for less than an hour (indicated by low light and red empty battery sign) you have to make sure the Mp3 is completely discharged. (you'll be notified when you turn on the device while it says: "Low Battery") once that it is completely discharged, you can now plug in the USB cable with the device to the PC... if problem persists, check your PC.. can it read the device? Check if a notification balloon appears at the bottom right corner of the monitor screen. It should say, "Found New Hardware... Samsung YP-Z5F..." if it did not appear, try to INSTALL using the Installation CD given when you bought the product. Just insert the disk into the PC and continue on, then when it is already installed and ready for use, plug in the device! This may be a little hard, but this is the only way I know. Feel free to ask me! I am no technician but I know a lot on devices and fine mechanics. Good luck!

Samsung YP-Z5F

I've had various issues similar to those described, and can offer the following trouble-shooting and/or work-around tricks that I've had success with:

Sometimes, when I come to use it I find that it won't turn on at all, but it's most likely because it's been a while (several weeks) since the last time that I used it.  The battery does seem to lose its charge over this time.  All I do is to charge it up for several hours, (or even overnight).  It usually charges best by leaving the unit OFF when plugging in the USB cable to the PC, just like a cell phone does.

As for the problem with the PC recognizing it, sometimes it just takes a few minutes. I have winXP.
First, open MyComputer.  If the mp3 player doesn't show up as another drive after about 60 seconds, press the F5 key to 'refresh'.  Sometimes closing MyComputer, then re-opening it makes a difference, too.  You might also want to try a different USB connection, like using one in the back of the PC instead of the front (or vice-versa).

Sometimes, though, it doesn't hurt to just press the RESET button at the bottom side (6 o'clock position when holding it upright and facing you).  With it turned ON, I insert a paper clip that's been partially straightened out, holding it in for about 3 seconds.

Good luck!
