My digital camera just wont turn on at all, ive recharged the batteries, changed the batteries, it is not the batteries! Is it dead?
My dad had the exact same prob and I found a solution that worked! What you do is you take you memory card out and you slot it into your computer (if you do not have the slot on you computer try you printer, if not again try asking around see if anybody else does) go into my computer computer and click on the name of the memory card slot look at all of the images and save any images that are not marked by a red X, and then when you have them all transferred delete all the pictures that do have a red X on the memory card. When finished take the card out of the computer and put it back in the the camera and it should start up. If not re-charge the battery one more time if that doesn't work well sorry cant help! Once again I don't have a solution, but my Canon A95 has also just failed to power up after it was perfect the previous day. Tried new charged batteries and even a new set of alkaline AA's. Contacted Canon who said it sounded like a hardware fault and sent me a list of repairers here in the UK. Found that minimum service charge would be almost as much as a decent 5mp replacement camera. The camera is 2 years and 8 months old and only came with 2 year warranty. Ironically the shop where I bought it now gives 3 year warranty! However, they wouldn't stretch mine any further. I am encouraged by the fact that Ozie says their cameras are over three years old and Canon seem to be helping. I will now contact Canon UK again for their views on your story.
We, and a relative have the same camera and both have recently failed. We have returned one to Canon and they have replaced it advising that there appears to be a common problem with this model. We have now returned the second camera and are waiting on their response (either repair or replace). Both cameras were over 3 years old. Hope this helps.
I don't have a solution -- but I'm having the same problem. I even purchased a new battery. Nothing still.

I have the same problem. Simply put the newly charged battery in and the camera won't work
