Lodger had been cooking- had a Problem -possibly a spill. Switched cooker off at wall. Cooker is now cleaned. Now all 4 ignition units spark repeatedly as soon as wall switch turned on without turning control knobs
If the control knob is turned ring lights correctly but the other ignition units continue to spark
Also the ovan and grill do not seem to work at all.
Please help as i am hungry and in need of a coffee!

Re: Smeg SE64 Gas cook top
Problem with hob is probably water ingress in area of ignition unit - will probably cure itself
oven is a completely separate unit from hob. problem with it is that you have to re-set the clock - you have it on automatic. after power outage, oven clock always has to be reset

Hi, sometimes cooking spills stop the ignitor from working. Clean the cook top thoroughly and try it again. Spills can also make the ignitor go off randomly when you are not operating your cooker. Check if the ignition point where the zap comes from is not turned or bent too far from its original position. If you have a gas shut off make sure it is fully open to supply enough gas. If all else fails buy a cheap hand held ignitor to start your gas stove. If the cause is a spill which sometimes the problem can persist even after cleaning it may take a while for it to work again. If the problem is with all six burners then your ignitor probably needs replacing. When you hear the ignitor zap check to see if the electronic zap appears to jump across to the edge of the burner. If it doesn't it will not light the flame no matter how many times you try. I hope this helps you.
Brand new means you have a warranty, get the service agent to check.
I have found that you can easily place the wrong burner cap on the incorrect burner ring(the smaller burner caps).
Could also be dirt or water in burner ring or the burner jet(use needle to clear jet).
Are sparks coming from all ignitors? You might have damaged the spark plug.
