The ps2 green light will go green when switched on etc. but if u were playing on your ps2, then stopped then started again and it didnt work then this might solve your problem.
Even hear a fast high pitched sound especially when your ps2 is on a loading screen. thats the laser moving backs and forward. for me i knew that there was no disc read error or overheating etcetc. the disc did not spin so i thought it was because the laser was not reading at the correct section.
my methos is to turn off the ps2.
then move the laser back to the back end of the ps2. DO NOT touch the surface of the laser. wait a few seconds then try your ps2 now. worked for me and a couple of other mates who had the same problem

o well mine does that i just turn off the back switch and try to it loads! my has a mod chip also and it tends to not start sometimes i just reset or i turn off the back switch and then try till it works GL HF
That would be the balance switch, should be located rear right under the main board. over time the switch becomes jamed in the on position and the machine always thinks its off balance. $4 to $10 for a new one.
Have you gone back and tried that game again? And were you using one (or both) of the two sticks to move in that game, or were you using the directional pad.
The dual shock controllers on the PS2 have a small, easily overlooked button between the two sticks. It has a red light directly above it. If you push that button, the light will switch on and off. When the light is on, you can use the sticks in pressure sensitive mode. For example, if you push the stick a little, your character may walk, but if you push it further in a direction he will run instead. It's used differently in different games. But certain games won't operate unless that feature is either on or off (again, it varies by game).
My guess is that the button was accidentally pressed while you were playing, and suddenly the controller didn't work. But when you switched games, most games will turn the light on when they start up, if they need it, so the problem corrected itself.
If your PS2 is chipped for playing PS2 fake games then try the following steps:
1)Insert the DVD movie in your PS2 and hold the power button of PS2 until it light goes red.
2)Now again hold the power button until the light turns in green. and after that your DVD movie should work.
If above solution does not works replace the lens with a new one.
try to hold the red button & see if it works.
if not then turn the ps2 off & try again.
if it doesnt work then look for a nearby ps2 repair shop. dont go reparing over 90 pounds when you can get a new one.
hope for the best, eh.
