I have a light pink Sony Vaio VGN-CR510E and i've had it for a little over two years now. The screen has gone grey/white and will only return to the natural screen when the tops of the screen are squeezed,...

I wouldnt say beyond repair, if you were able to compress it and the screen would appear normal there is a connection problem, your monitor has small connections making it work one happens to be an inverter. It could be that the connection is loose, the bad thing about that is if its loose there is a chance it could cause a short which in return you will need an inverter or whole monitor.

1. try hooking it up to an external monitor, you need a vga or dvi cable and try hooking up to a projector or another monitor, if that doesnt work its your video card. unfortunately either fix is somewhat expensive. Good luck and please vote thank you.

if you have have hooked up an external monitor before here are some instructions

1. make sure the power is off

2. plug the vga cord to your laptop and to the external monitor, 15 pins normally blue or back has 15 little holes ive seen some that are pink.

3. turn both on

4. you may have to hit a function key thats the fn button plus (on mine is f4 small rectangle with a line on each side of it .

5. if the external monitor works then your monitor or the cables to your monitor are bad

6. if the external monitor doesnt work its your video card and you will need a new motherboard if the card is integrated.

Bought the computer (with ECS HT 2000 Dual DDR 800 MB) 2 months ago. Two weeks into it, the screen goes black; but the ''no signal'' that normally appears in the middle of the screen, when the computer is...

Send the dealer a letter informaing him that you intend to file a small claims action against him to recover the $65 and the cost of the computer, because it is defective.

Also notify him that he has 15 days to respond. Then file a small claims action against him to recover those damages.

It would be in your best interest to try to find out what kind of warranty he offers with machines that he sells

Monitor is enlarged, wont return to normal size

You may have hit the "F11" key which takes the open window to fullscreen. "F11" toggles large, small... If not that, beboot. If that doesn't clear it up, then the display settings have gotten altered. Right click on the desktop, select "settings" and increase the resolution. Windows should prompt you to keep or reject the change. Select yes or no when prompted.

19" hansol 920p monitor

Hi,

To my knowledge, it is not the zoom that has to be adjusted but rather the horizontal width, zoom would expand all (to, bottom & both sides) whereas your only concern are the two sides.

Should the horizontal width not fully expand, then there is an internal problem with the horizontal deflection circuitry which could either be the yoke, a capacitor or shunt diodes. In certain instances, a below normal voltage at the mains or the internal power supply could also cause this.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
