I have the edge hog LE 750 and had to replace the spindle and gear because the teeth stripped out. My question is how much grease goes into the cavity where the gear rides? Do I coat the gears or do I fill up the cavitiy.

Coat the gears and add a bit extra but do not fill the entire cavity.

SOURCE: The belt in my grass

No solution available for GH-1000. It is interesting to note that Black and Decker now sells a GH-2000 in Lowe's that is, from the outside, identical to the GH1000. Most likely, they know the design of the GH1000 was flawed and have replaced it with a new model. As for me, once burned, twice learned.

What lubricant is in the gears of hand mixers

Hand blenders have nylon gears in them so it will require a light grease. Use white lithium grease. Any petroleum based grease with degrade the composition of the gears, causing them to soften and the teeth to wear out or even strip.

Chuck will only turn side to side after repair of gears box after

I need more information to answer your problem.
The chuck normally has movement turning because of the clutch gear.
It is possible if you had a gear strip or spindle break that there are pieces of metal in the grease that have jammed your new gears. I would recommend tearing down completely, remove all the grease, thoroughly clean gearcase, regrease & reassemble.

Bosch GCM12SD is making a clicking noise as it winds down - it's definitely coming from the casing where the idle roller gears to the blade arbor...

If it is a uniform/regular click I would suggest that maybe you have lost a tooth or two on one of the gears. The blade spindle gear is larger than the motor output gear, so would click once per revoloution of the blade. With the machine unplugged, turn the blade gently by hand and you might well feel a gap in the gear teeth. The gears will be helical gears (diagonal teeth) so you will have two to three teeth partially engaged at a time so one tooth missing isn't catastrophic but will need prompt attention as the metal debris can cause more damage as it is thrown around with the gearbox grease. I would normally replace both components as putting a new gear against an older one that has been running against a damaged one can cause premature wear. Obviously this isn't a small job as both the motor and gearbox will need stripping down to replace the damaged parts.
Another thing that could cause a clicking noise is if the motor has started to break down and one of the commutator bars has started lifting, but this would cause alot of sparking when the motor is run and probably a lack of power, especially under working load.

The motor runs (Milwaukee 1670 1 Drill) but the chuck does not rotate. This is true with both low and high gear. I suspect the gears are stripped but never had one apart before. I removed the top cover...

Hi, chances are the spindle driving the check is snapped. This is quite common. At the same time you might (probably) have some broken teeth on one of the intermediate gears and the narrow gear closest to the motor. I have just dissasembled three Hole hwags for a plumber friend of mine and they all have the same damage issues. The cover should come off fairly easily. Give it a couple of taps with a hammer to loosen it. The cost of replacement parts if the issues are the same is at least $100. Some of the spindles are more (the threaded ones) and will bring the cost closer to $170. remove all the grease as broken teeth will be hidden in there. The only thing I have not been able to find is proper grease to put back into the tool. Hope this helps.

How do i change inner tie rod , do i need a special tool.

i think steering gear has to be removed to get rubber bellows off to access tie rod.

486d579.gif Section 11-02: Steering System, Power 1997 Continental Workshop Manual
DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY Tie Rod and Bellows SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S) REQUIRED Description Tool Number Bench Mounted Holding Fixture T57L-500-B
Disassembly
  1. NOTE: Drill out mounting holes in holding fixture with a 9/16 inch drill to allow the power rack and pinion steering gear assembly mounting bolts to fit.

Mount power rack and pinion steering gear assembly in Bench Mounted Holding Fixture T57L-500-B.
  1. Remove tie rod ends (3A130).
  1. sve~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif CAUTION: Use care not to damage bellows. If bellows are damaged, this will allow contamination into the steering gear and cause leakage.
Remove four clamps retaining bellows to steering gear housing (3548) and front wheel spindle tie rods (3280). Discard clamps if damaged or excessively corroded.
  1. NOTE: Steering gear does not use rivets or roll pins between the inner front wheel spindle tie rod and rack.

Remove bellows along with power steering gear rack tube (3K762).
  1. Position power rack and pinion steering gear so that several steering gear teeth are exposed. Hold steering gear sector shaft (3575) with an adjustable wrench on end teeth only while loosening ball joint nuts.
Assembly
  1. Expose several steering gear teeth and hold steering gear with adjustable wrench.
  1. Tighten each front wheel spindle tie rod separately to 90-110 Nm (67-81 lb-ft).
  1. Thoroughly clean steering gear and steering gear housing bore of any foreign material. Any abrasive material is extremely harmful to high-pressure oil seals.
  1. Apply Steering Gear Grease C3AZ-19578-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESW-M1C87-A to groove in front wheel spindle tie rod where tie rod bellows clamp to front wheel spindle tie rod and uniformly to inner diameter of tie rod bellows before installation. This allows for toe-in adjustment without twisting tie rod bellows.
  1. Install tie rod bellows and power steering gear rack tube. Make sure power steering gear rack tube is positioned as shown.

Wheel bearings going out like light bulbs

check the threads on the spindle and make sure that they are in good shape or you will have to replacethe spindle to rectify this, if they are fine then I would get new castle nuts as this is definently why you are going through wheel bearings. When you tighten the castle nut you should be sure to tighten it up tight then back it off a quarter turn so the wheel turns. And remember to pack your bearings with wheel bearing grease before you install them then add a little more grease in the hub.
