Media Receiver will not work

I had a loud fan problem on my Media Receiver (PDP-R04U) for my Plasma TV. I opened the top of the receiver to see which fan (there are 2) was making the loud wering sound. It wouldn't go on so I put everything back together (didn't touch anything) and now it doesn't work at all. I took it to the Pioneer local repair place and he said that I tripped a switch and he couldn't reset it unless I took in the large heavy 43' screen. It worked fine until I opened the set, Is there any way I can reset this switch myself? Thanks, JOE

The repairman called Pioneer and they had him take my remote and press the display button and about 4-5 other buttons on the remote and it was reset and came on immediately. I would like the code if anyone has it. Thank you.

I had the same problem and figured it out using the service manual and some hints all over the web. Tools you will need: PC with serial port, serial cable (straight-through VERY important; one end must be D-sub 9-pin for MR), VT100 terminal emulator (I used HyperTerminal in Windows), AXD1478 remote for TV. Plug in MR (assuming plasma is connected also) to power outlet. Connect serial cable to MR and PC. Start HT in Windows. Give it any name and icon. Setup to connect using serial port (COM1 for me). Setup port settings to Baud:38400, Bits:8, Parity:None, Stop:1, Flow control:None. Disconnect and go to Properties -> Settings -> Emulation: VT100. OK to exit Properties. Leave HT window open. Take Pioneer remote and point at lower right corner of plasma (SR IR sensor). Press the Display button. Wait 3 - 4 seconds. Press left arrow, up arrow, left arrow, and right arrow in sequence each for one second. Then press the power button. Panel should turn on. Press Muting button until you get to the Initialize mode. Press up arrow until you get to UART Select setting. Press left arrow until you get to 38400-232C. Press Muting button until you get back to the Information mode. Go back to the PC and click connect on the terminal emulator. Hit Enter on your keyboard and see if you get an ERR message. If so, you are communicating. Then enter TSN (in caps) and press enter. You should get a return of TSN. Then enter CTM (in caps). You should get a return of CTM. Now look at your MR's LEDs. They should be back to normal. Press HOME MENU on the Pioneer remote and the plasma will turn off. Enjoy! (^_^)

SOURCE: Can I use media receiver PDP-R04U with PDP-436PU display?

You need the pioneer media cables hooked up to the media receiver to the plasma unit itself. each end has 2 different plugs. one has 2 thumb screws and the other is a squeezable end that clicks into place. They MUST be on before you plug in any power what so ever!!!! And yes, other information is being passed through.

Pioneer PDP-R04U receiver blinking Help!?!

How many times this standby/power light blinks at one time switch ON?Count it carefully. These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV.This will make repair easy. Hi, I have a Pioneer Plasma and PDP-R06G Media

The Media Receiver is the tuner/connector selector box.
If the top is removed the Media Box goes into shut down mode. It requires resetting by a Pioneer Authorised Service tool.

My pioneer plasma tv is pdp-r04u with media receiver. The back of the receiver has a s-video jack "monitor out". what shoud i connect it to?

My initial response is "An S-Video Cable"... but I suspect this isn't the information you are seeking.
You don't need to connect your receiver to the TV's video inputs UNLESS you want the receiver to switch between different video devices.
PS - more information on what "my receiver" is would help too, also tell us what you're trying to accomplish as the end result.
tell us about all the equipment you have, and how you would ultimately like to be able to control everything, and what inputs and outputs are on each device.
