Froggy, First check the back panel of the freezer section and see if you have a big frost build up. If so, you probably have a defrost problem, heaters more than likely. If there is no frost build-up check to see if the fan in the freezer (evaporator fan) is running. If that's ok, next would be the automatic damper. Have someone unplug the refer. Open the refer door and listen for the damper door to open when someone plugs the refer back in. If thats operational, next would be the thermistors, you would have to ohm them out to see if they are in range. Seldom is this the problem. Check these things out and get back on what you find. Fridge temperature has suddenly dropped to 15

Check the door gaskets, condenser fan, refrigerator fan and the freezer fan. That should narrow down the problem.

GE Refrigerator-Freezer side works fine/Refrigerator side not ok

You most likely have a defrost problem. Check the inside back panel of the freezer. See if there is ice built up. If so, you have a problem with the defrost. 85% of the time, it's caused by a bad heater. It could be the termination thermostat, timer or fan. If the ice is built up. Take the panel out and defrost with hair dryer. If you want, you can now check the heater and termination thermostat. It's a closed switch that opens on the rise. If you fix it your self or not, To save your food. You can replace the panel and turn the fridge back on, it will operate correctly for 3 or 4 days. This will give you time to either get the part and fix it or for someone to get out and repair.

Freezer is cold but not keeping icecream frozen.

If, the fresh food section is 34- 38 degrees, then the freezer should be cold enough to keep ice cream solid. All of the cooling capability comes from the freezer section. I, personally, would not waste time or money on a ten year old box. Ten years ago it cost $1000, so, the outlay is $100 per year. Dump the old refrigerator and get a new one.
