I've been trying to set this 2100 up for a couple of days now. I can get the computers to sync up with it and the TV that its hooked up to shows media center too. But when I try to use "LIVE TV" on either the computer (via wifi) or the TV (hardwire) its says "no tuner hardware"
I have HDMI cable and a "Red,White,Yellow" cable. I tried both, and either one seperately...nothing..can you help?
Everything else works...getting online with the media extender works with internet TV...but watching our Cable TV from the Media Center does not work.
There are a number of reasons why you might receive the "no tuner hardware" message from Windows Vista Media Center. First, you must have one or more TV Tuners installed on your Windows Vista Media Center computer and each tuner must appear in the Device Manager window as a working device. Second, the television setup must be completed inside of the Media Center software on your computer. Third, the various Windows Media Center services must be running in the background.
If I understand your post correctly, you are unable to view "Live TV" on your Windows Vista Media Center computer or the Linksys Media Center Extender. The Linksys Media Center Extender will not work until you can view "Live TV" on your Windows Vista Media Center computer as the Media Center Extender receives its signal from your Windows Vista Media Center computer. This leads me to believe that you have not met each of the three requirements listed above. Please reply with the specific make and model of the TV Tuner which is installed on your Windows Vista Media Center computer. There are a number of reasons why you might receive the "no tuner hardware" message from Windows Vista Media Center. A RF amp can only work with the signal it is supplied---and a loose connection could affect only the lower channels---common.
Faint but possible is tuner in set has a problem (2-6 or low band)
Another idea is if you have a/v jacks on the back of the set route the signal into a old vcr and out from its rear AV jacks into the matching in jacks on the set--bypass the TV tuner to see if the tuner in the set is the issue or what....
The problem must be either because of Hardware or software. You are saying that you already tried installing new drivers and softwares for the tuner card and checked, but its bad luck. So it seems the hardware device may be failed. So first ensure the hardware working properly by plugging tuner card into any of your friends system. If it works properly, then it must be surely software problem. We can try installing any other version of device drivers and softwares and make it work.
Tries tv unplug, replug it back like about an hour later. Most of the times tv will resetting itself back to the factory setting and will work again. If still have the same problems, tries pushes the power button on/off a couple times for trying to fire up the tv Tuner signal board, these off/on tries work with many LCD/Plasma HD tvs.But this kind of problems, eventually u have to change the tv Tuner signal board sooner or later.Because the tv Tuner signal board it is dying, and this solution is just a temp fixed for the delaying it for awhile.
Unplug the tuner and then uninstal the software using control panel add/remove. Then reboot a couple of times to make sure all is cleaned out. Then reinstall the software drivers and try the tuner.
Unfortunetly you only have a couple of things that go wrong here one is the drivers becomign corrupted or changed or the hardware itself has failed.
Tries Unplug, replug the tv about an hour,go to the menu sound setting reset it back to factory setting.Should work after this. Not than ur Main Tuner signal board have problem.Must replaced.Tries Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish Main Tuner board for the replacement.
You may check Device Manager first to check if your TV tuner is still properly installed or still detected by your computer. For Windows XP - Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager and check if the TV tuner is still there.
If you cannot see the TV tuner under Device Manager , unplug then replug your tuner and see if something will pop up under "Other Devices" (still under Device Manager). If it does, then you need to right click it and reinstall the driver. You can just download the driver/software over the net.
Now, if your computer does not detect it at all try another PC to test if the problem is with your PC or just the tuner.
It could be a problem with the drivers for the tv tuner card....
Pls uninstall the drivers and then reeat the tv tuner card and then reinstall the drivers for the tv tuner card.
Restart the computer after renstalling the drivers and check if it works.
