No sound for cable tv

I'm having a problem with my Tv. When I try to watch cable I get no sound from the tv. But when I play a dvd I have sound. It is obviously a soundcard problem but Where could I locate this soundboard, and where could I find a replacement?

We have 4 tv's All other 3 work. We have the cable run into a 5 way connector and each individual cable is run to the tv cable/antenna input's on the tv's, So it wouldn't be a problem with the cable box. I tried a new cable and that wasn't the problem. I checked the audio settings and they were not on SAP and the tv is not on mute. I also forgot to mention that when turning the volume up or down when the cable is connected it makes a thumping sound almost as if the speakers were blown yet that is not the case because they work when watching dvds

Is this cable connected up to your TV set thruogh the tuner, the RF input, or the video and audio outputs, scart connector? You may want to make sure the cable box does not have a mute or a volume control turned down, and make sure the TV's audiop setting is not on SAP. Good Luck

I have the Samsung HT-C550 home theater system and a Sony 42" HD TV. The two devices work well when playing a DVD but when I watch TV I can't get the TV sound through the home system. I am...

Try this:

Purchase a 3.5 mm jack (it will have a smaller connnector going into the TV and Red and White connectors on the other end).

Pull all the other cables running into the Blu Ray player out so that you are only left with the HDMI Cable coming from HDMI Out (DVD) to HDMI/DVI In (TV), along with the 3.5 jack.

You will be able to play the TV sound through the system.

I have no sound through my surround sound when playing ps3

The optical audio out from the TV only works for the TV's tuner, probably. Hook-up optical from Cable/SAT and from PS3 boxes to DVD/Receiver.

My surround sound will not work through the TV, only the DVD

If your tv and surround has an optical input/output.Then you can connect with an optical lead. This will then play the sound from whatever you are watching. You normaly select dig1 or input1 on the surround system.

Humming sound when watching tv,but not when watching dvd's

It wounds like you are getting interference from you tv to the receiver. You can try a few different things here.

1. Connect the tv output into another input on you receiver to see if it isnt the channel on the receiver.

2. Try a different set of cables between the tv and receiver. Faulty cables can give you problems.

3. Connect the cable from you tv to a different device. (another dvd vcr blue ray etc.) This will tell you if its the receivers or the tv.

UMC 19in TV with built-in DVD player - model L19/7TCD

Try connecting earphones or headphones to the 3.5mm Headphone socket on the TV and check this works correctly, i.e hear TV when watching TV, hear DVD when watching a DVD etc.
If all is OK, purchase a 3.5mm Jack to L/R Audio/Phono cable. Connect the 3.5mm jack in to the headphone socket on the TV and connect the red/white phone ends to the 5.1 surround system.
It should solve it. SCART out is not always live in all sources so is not a reliable way to connect.

Surround sound ok whilst playing dvd but not working for tv

On your Sagem TV you should have two RCA ouputs (red and white connection usually marked ouput) ) Connect these to the input on the surround system using the interlink cable.

You should then be able to hear the sound from the TV by changing the SOURCE on the home cinema remote.

Better still if you have a digital out on your TV use that instead.

No sound from built-in DVD player on TV?

It sounds like the audio cable from the DVD drive may be loose or damaged. Did you wall mount the TV and this is when the problem started or has it always been like this? If its under warranty, contact the helpline on 0871 2000 463, be warned, if its becuase the cable is damaged by a wall mounting screw, its clearly evident and they will charge for repair.
