I was snapping pictures and everything was working wonderfully. I got some great shots of flowers in my garden an then I went indoors and took a few shots and then it stopped taking pictures. I can swap out my lens with the 18-55mm lens and it works fine. I am supposed to be taking wedding pictures this weekend and I need that lens to work!!!

ff1esta,
Moving a camera from cold to warm after it has been in the cold for a long time will cause condensation to form. It's a good idea if you can to allow the camera and lenses to gradually warm up. Like first in a garage or enclosed porch in the bag before binging them into a warm place. Since you have the moisture in it now you have to allow it to get out, the electrical components are at risk, the condensation or fog may have caused the lens not to be able to focus. remove the lens from the camera body and let both sit to air out. Since it's been over a week now if there is still some moisture you may want to get the camera into a shop to be cleaned and inspected to avoid corrosion.

Hi there!
I experienced the exact same problem with my 100-300mm lens and I was never able to get it to work correctly again. In fact, attempting to use it further seemed to exacerbate the problem.
The further you zoom, the wider the aperture opens allowing more light for the camera to focus properly. If the aperture mechanism is damaged, the auto-focus process may not work as it should; which would explain why the auto-focus feature works only when at 18mm.
Regardless, I strongly recommend you discontinue use of the lens until a professional technician can examine the lens and figure out what's going on. I'm sure you can contact the manufacturer to open a support case or you can find a camera store that offers repair services.
I hope this helps!

I had the exact same problem, took it to a repair shop, and they said the motor had to be replaced completely for $140! The lens is only 18 months old and was not used THAT much! Argh.
