It tells that it won't work on windows vista

Go to the Dell Download area ( http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=STUDIO1535&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid= ) and choose the drivers you need. This laptop is not officially supported under Windows 7, so you will have to try the drivers for the Vista version. These often work, but not always.

Simply visit the Microsoft Hardware download page and select your model from the dropdowns. Install your software (you'll need administrator access) and restart your system.

Some drivers are packaged as 32 or 64-bit. To find out which version of Windows you're using, check out this page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218. Note that the instructions for Vista are the same for 7.

According to me, you are using windows xp as there won't be any problem with windows vista.

The sound card you are using is high definition audio.so you need to download Microsoft UAA Bus Controller Software.Install this first and installed the driver for windows xp.

If you download the Windows Vista Version it should work with Windows 7. The XP version however wont be compatible.
Same thing happens with software.
Windows 7 is an improved Vista so almost any Vista driver should work with W/.

I would recommend you to try to use Windows 7 dedicated drivers and software to guarantee that it works with your system.

I have Vista and downloaded from VISTA site. www.vistaquestusa.com Make sure you go to 8 mp and then click on the model number.

I suggest emailing lexmark and telling them u need a disc for a Lexmark X2550 printer. Maybe tell em yours didnt come with one when u bought it and be firm...or you can continue to try and download it from the internet.
