Question about Canon PIXMA MP495 InkJet Printer

I get error E31 message whenever I try to print

Every time I print from the printer (with the cable connected) I get Error E31 message flashing. The printer does not appear to grab the paper in preparation to print, I also sometimes get "Out of Paper" message too.

I had the same [email protected] of the problem yesterday. The problem was not inthe paper. You have to do 2 simple things, from which one will solvethe problem.
first, download the latest drivers and install them.
And the more important thing, the problem occurred due to incorrectpaper format. Solution is very simple. Open MS word or somethingsimilar, file->print.. and before you print open Properties menu.There for the Output Size will be selected "Match Page Size". you don'twant that (i don't know why it doesn't work), but the solution ismanually select A4, or whatever your page size is.
And there it is... printer starts throwing pages out like crazy :)))

Error 49 is a firmware error. Try following these steps:

Error 49.4c02 comes up whenever i want to do duplex printing

This is a critical firmware error that occur which cause the processor on the formatter to abort operation.This type of error can be because of invalid print commands,corrupt data,or invalid operations. Sometimes electrical noise in the cable can corrupt data during transmission to the printer. Other causes include poor quality parallel cables or poor connections,
To solve this try this solution step by step
  • Turn the printer off and then back on.
  • Try printing a job from a different software application. If the job prints, go back to
  • the first application and try printing a different file. If the message appears only with a certain software application or print job, contact the software vendor for assistance.
  • f the message persists with different software applications and print jobs, disconnect all cables to the printer that connect it to the network or PC.
  • Turn the printer off.
  • Remove all memory DIMMs or third-party DIMMs from the printer. (Do not remove the firmware DIMM in slot J1.)
  • Remove all EIO devices from the printer.
  • Turn the printer on.
  • If the error no longer exists, install each DIMM and EIO device one at a time, making sure to turn the printer off and back on as you install each
  • device.
  • Replace a DIMM or EIO device if you determine that it causes the error.
  • Remember to reconnect all cables that connect the printer to the network or computer.
  • If the error persists, final option is replace the firmware

Printer time out error!!????


is your printer connected with a serial cable, if so, you may have to install the printer and software again, but if you are connected via usb and this is the given error then there is a connection fault as, you may already know that LPT1 is not a usb connection but serial cable.
