Is the printer connected via USB or a printer cable to the LPT1 port? Make sure the Port setting in the properties of the printer are set to the correct port. If the printer is plugged into the USB port but the properties say it is on the LPT1 port. the cpmputer will think it is sending something to the printer but the printer doesnt know it.

How to print a regular document from Microsoft Word, Excel.

Instead of pressing the start button to print, you need to press the small ON/OFF button. The start button works to copy/scan. But to print, you will need to turn the printer on first. Once the printer is on, the computer should recognize it fine and allow you to print from your applications.

My printer will not print from the computer

its a printer driver issue for me..

I think you need to reinstall your printer driver again..
first you need to uninstall existing printer driver ..and restart your computer ...and then reinstall you printer driver..

why you need to reinstall?

because the printing application for the printer has been corrupt or missing..only the copy and scan application is running properly..

that's why it only scan and copy..but not print some document..

thanks for using FIXYA...

Have a good DAy..ahead^_^

New Vista Computer wont print last line, XP no problem

Using the print or printer setup (I can remember what is actually written) from within word. ensure that the print margins are not to small and cutting off your words, or if the print is appearing close to the edge of the paper when you print, you maybe outside the range of the prints ability to print that close to the edge of the page in whice case you would increase your margins in the print setup (ie from .125 to .375 or .50)

Printer stoped printinting

Hello there,

I think the correct printer is not selected on your computer. All you need to do is to go to Start > ControlPanel > Printers & Faxes > and check if you see multiple printers over there. If you do see multiple entries then right click on your lexmark printer and then select "Set as default printer" Once this is done, you can try printing a document to see if that works! In case if it still fails to print, you can try selecting the other printers listed in the printer & faxes folder as the default one and try printing. If you are still not able to print, I would suggest you to try uninstalling the program > restart your computer and then install the software once again.

Merry Christmas

I want to print new page of printing printer keeps churning out prvious printing instrctions i am 78yrs old still learning

Hi,

What you need to do is clear out the printing "QUEUE".

.
Clearing the Print Queue in Windows
The printer is one of the slowest devices in a computer system. If you had to wait for it to print your document before you could resume writing, you would quickly go back to using a typewriter. To eliminate the delay, Windows reserves a portion of memory for something called a “print queue” (or spooler). The queue works on a first-in first-out basis. You can continue to use the computer and send jobs to the spooler as it feeds a steady stream of data to the printer.
Print queues are nice, except when something happens in the printer to cause it to stop functioning. Sometimes it is just a paper jam and sometimes it is a bit more serious. If you need to cancel the jobs in the print queue, you can simply double-click the printer icon (in the system tray down by the clock) and open the print queue. Depending upon the length of your document and how many documents are waiting to print, the printer icon may appear briefly or for a sustained period. (Note: This would be a good time to remove the paper from the printer before continuing.) If the icon is not there, you can manually open the queue.
Open the Print Queue
  • Windows 98 - click Start, Settings, Printers
  • Windows XP - click Start, Printers and Faxes
or click Start, Control Panel, Printers and Faxes
  • Windows Vista - Start, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Printers
Double-click to open the appropriate printer's queue. The Print dialog box will open. Here you will see a list of all of the jobs waiting to print, along with the status of each job. The first print job is at the top of the list.
To cancel a document in the list, right-click it and select Cancel Printing. Most often, it is better to cancel all of the jobs and then resend the documents to the printer.
Cancel All Documents
  • Windows 98 - click Printer on the menu, select “Purge Print Documents”
  • Windows XP - click Printer on the menu, select “Cancel All Documents”
  • Windows Vista - click Printer on the menu, select “Cancel All Documents”
Please note that you must have Administrative rights in Windows XP and Vista to cancel print jobs. If you are the only user, you automatically have administrative rights. If you are on a multi-user computer, you must be an administrator. If are on a network and get a message saying that you do not have Administrative rights, find someone who does.
Under normal circumstances, printing documents are cancelled and will disappear from the queue. If one or more do not disappear, shutdown the computer and restart. When shutting down, you may get a message warning you that your print jobs will be lost if you continue. Tell Windows to shutdown anyway. When you restart, Windows may tell you that you have print jobs waiting. Tell Windows to delete them.
Before you resume work, open the Print Queue from the Start menu. You should find the queue empty. If you are using Windows XP or Windows Vista and the queue is not empty, you will be unable to print. Before trashing your computer, you can try to clear the queue using a secret Windows command.
Click Start, Run, and type “Net Stop Spooler” (without the quotes). Then press Enter. Shutdown the computer and restart. The print jobs should be removed. If they are not, shut down the computer again, take a deep breath, and then go for a long walk. The queue should be clear when you return. Note that you must restart the computer for your printers to resume normal operation.

This should solve your problem, Let me know how it works for you..

Document locked in que

Solution #1 Have you tried to power off the computer itself? The document is most likely locked in the PC not the printer. Unplug the printer's power, power down the computer, wait a minute or so then restart the computer. Once the machine has loaded check the print queue to verify the document is no longer there, if so you can plug the printer back in and the issue should be resolved.

Solution #2
From the Start menu, select Control Panel. Then follow this path:
Administrative Tools > Services > Print Spooler
Once at the Print Spooler, right click on it. Select Stop. Leave this window open. Turn off your printer.
At the open Print Spooler window, right click on the Print Spooler, and select Start.
Go to the Start menu, and select Printers & Faxes. Find the printer you are having problems with and double click on it. From the menu, select Printer, then select Cancel All Documents. The documents should clear.
Turn on your printer. You sould now be able to print.
