Here's the deal, I received a TV from a friend. It's a Sansui TVS2542A. I'm using a Jensen universal remote JER321.
Only 2 codes are provided for a Sansui TV (1191, 1247), and the first one works fine for everything except the input mode. I tried the input with one of my Sony TV, and it works fine.
I need to enter that mode so play dvds and such. I can't find any info on that TV model either...
How can I put it on input, using those models?
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Re: Using a Jensen remote, can't access input mode
Turn on your tv, press and hold tv button, then the on/off button, it will light up then press the power button.and it turns off....hold.
After holding down both for buttons for 3 secs the light on the on/off key turns back on.
Release both keys and the light should stay on.
Now hit the On/off button repeatedly until the tv turns off, when it does hit the stop button to save code.

First, check which input you have the TV set on. There may be an Input button on the side of the TV. (On the SLEDVD197, the button just below the DVD Eject button.) Just press Input and use the Channel Up/Down arrows to navigate the menu to change to the DVD. Press Input again to Enter the selected option.
With the TV in DVD mode, try pressing Play again. If you still have the error, check the region code for the disc. The "Operation not permitted" messages is usually that something on the disc is locked. Frequently, it's the result of using a different region code disc than the DVD player knows how to interpret. Try a different DVD.
If your TV doesn't have the Input button on the TV, you absolutely need a universal remote. However, you will want one that can match the TV/DVD button, the Input/Select button and the Menu button. Usually this requires a higher end remote; you also need a remote that was programmed at least 6 months after Sansui released the TV. If you do have the Input button on the TV, a universal remote may make using the TV easier.
You can buy a universal remote controlled that you can use not only for sansui tv but to other brand of tv as well. The code is in the manual of the universal remote controlled just read it.That's the economical way buy a universal remote controlled, I hope I help you friend.
you might not be able to use a universal remote to access specific functions on the TV. The universal remote was designed for basic use, and has slightly evolved, but still lacks in some areas. I suggest finding a Sansui remote, specifically for that TV model.
