TV not working with remote from Cox cable/Scientific Atlanta

I need the code to program into the remote to get the tv to work with the cable remote. I have called tech support and they suggest I find a code from Sylvania. I hate using one remote to turn on the TV and the volume and the other remote to turn on the cable box and change channels. Thanks

The cable company should be able to tell you how to scan for the remote code that will work for the TV. The other possibility is to try a Funai or Symphonic codes since they are the same with Sylvania now.

I have a similar model TV, 6842PEM. It does not have an internal reciever, and therefore can not be programmed with a universal (or similar) remote. That could be your problem as well. Hope this info helps...

Top and bottom of the screen are cut off
That set has an aspect ratio of 4:3. The problem is that what you are sending to it is 16:9 So you are sending an hd signal to a non HD television. The tuner is NTSC which is not HD. Theres not much that you can do about this.

I hate to say it but use two remotes--original for the Vizio and the box remote for the box---some kind of conflict here---you can also try to unplug things from power for while and repower to see if a reboot will help or not.
