It happens at times that we knowingly delete some files permanently and later realize that they were important. It is possible to recover such files easily by using third party software of Windows disk recovery. They are capable of recovering files that were deleted long back and even the files deleted due to formatting, damage or deletion of the partition. To know more about the tool visit http://www.downloaddatarecovery.net/

Have saved all your desired drive files back? It's great! In fact, I had ever also successfully rescued most of desired photos, Word files, videos and some songs off from my mistakenly formatted USB flash drive. But, I just use different drive format recovery software that has offered me four well-designed data recovery modes.
So, if anyone there also has been stuck in similar drive data loss issues, he can also take chances with that software here:
http://www.ucfix.com/data-recovery/data-recovery-after-format-external-drive-hdd.html
Always save several copies of your important drive data on different devices or locations well.

I am really happy to hear that you've restored all your left drive files back. You are really lucky! In fact, not too long ago, I also have similar drive information loss problems for RAW file system error and all inner stuffs cannot be accessed without formatting process.
So, in order not to format this drive and erase everything inside, I had tried many data recovery software recommended in different forums and articles. Luckily, I had also rescued most of my stuffs back.
Here are more data recovery articles that may also help anyone there:
Detailed steps to restore external hard drive data
Restore lost data from formatted USB hard disk
Good luck!

Based on your description, your computer system seems to have some problems. Therefore, why not to try this external hard drive on anther PC?
If it could work well there, you'd better fix the system problems of your computer and back up all your important data on this external hard drive.
But, if this drive gets the same problem unfortunately, you also could go on using drive data recovery software to take chances.
I know you've tried many data recovery programs. But, have you tried this drive data recovery freeware?
http://www.icare-recovery.com/data-recovery-free.html
I have tried it before. It really worked perfectly and restored all my wanted files back from my WD hard drive. I still remember it has offered four data recovery options for me, such as "Format Recovery", "Advanced Files Recovery", "Partition Recovery" and "Deep Scan Recovery".
I truest it will work well on your drive.
Just give it a shot!

SOURCE: My LaCie was working great and suddenly I can't

First DO NOT FORMAT IT!
Try plugging it into a different USB port. If its a 2.5" drive use the power cable adapter that came with it. Check to see if it works on another computer.

SOURCE: My PC does not see my external hard drive any

An external storage-device has four major components:

* the USB cable

* the power-adapter

* the disk-drive inside the enclosure

* the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure.

One of these components has failed.

Try a different USB cable.

Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.

Try connecting to a USB port on a different computer.

Take a "multi-meter" and measure both the voltage and amperage output from the AC adapter, and compare with the specifications on the label on the adapter.

Open the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive, and then connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if it works at all.

Purchase a new, compatible, disk-drive, and install it in the enclosure, to "revive" your external storage device.

Get the part-number and serial-number from the label on your disk-drive, and access the manufacturer's web-site, and use "check warranty status", to see if they will replace the device, at minimal cost to you.

There exist commercial "data recovery" services that can try to repair your device, just long-enough to rescue and copy your files. For example, see: https://services.seagate.com/index.aspx?lng=en-US for a "no data - no charge" guarantee.

Hello tony15170
You can retrieve your data provided they haven't been overwritten untill now .
Download a recovery tool to do the job for you :
Free Recuva works fine : http://download.cnet.com/Recuva/3000-2242_4-10753287.html
Do not try to recover all at once but each category at a time , documents , pictures , music ...etc...
If it fails , try this one . It's not free but very efficient : Tenorshare Data Recovery. It can recover data after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data due to accidental erasing , system sabotage, virus corrupted partitions, drives crash, physical damage,etc..
http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/index.htm
If you still don't have success , you will have to go to a recovery office but let's hope not because it will cost you a lot of money .
