Denon AVR-1908 won't power on

Has worked fine for approx 5 years, but now suddenly does not power on when pushing the power button. Nothing else plugged into neighboring outlets has similar problem, and changing batteries in remote (even though I'm pushing power button on the component) didn't help.

Thanks - the answer to all of your questions is no, so I guess it's a fuse. Is that something you could get online and replace yourself, or would you expect I should be able to find a repair shop to do somewhat inexpensively? Thanks

Are you getting a standby light at all? Is it flashing? Do you here a click when you plug the unit in? If the answer is no to all of these then you blew a fuse. If you do have soome sort of standby light, then your set is in protect mode. More than likely for a blown channel. If no lights, but you ar egetting a click, you could have a bad transformer. Use a DVM and see if it is open or not. Good luck

SOURCE: denon avr 885 it automaticallyshuts off when i try to power it up

Its possible that the Receiver is going into protection mode and possible some speaker cable might have touched the body or with each other.
Remove all inputs and outputs and then restart the receiver. If it starts then you are lucky. Connect all cable and wiring properly and ensure that they do not touch each other. You might have to reset the microprocessor also.

If the problem persist then let me know to further the trobleshooting.

SOURCE: Denon AVR-1908 speaker issue

Before we play taps and throw dirt on top of the Denon, perhaps a bit more triage is in order. I'm not certain who the patient is. Especially when you have "speaker issue" in the title. Are you saying there are some speakers that don't work ONLY with BluRay?

If it has NEVER worked the (unnamed) BD player or its cable(s) could be at fault, too.

What 'connections' are we talking about. HDMI, coaxial- or optical audio, 5.1 analog; to what input on the Denon assigned to what function?

Have you tried all audio paths out of the BD player? Is it configured to squawk in the right digital mode?

Do you have any other digital audio sources (CD/DVD) you could use to certify the audio paths that don't work with the BD player?

The Denon does not play any source on the speakers, just on the headphone jack in the front. What could be the reason?

You might want to review the manual below:

http://www.usa.denon.com/AVR-1908-OM-E_109.pdf

1) Make sure MASTER VOLUME is not set too low 2) MUTE should be OFF 3) Make sure nothing is plugged into the PHONES jack 4)Make sure the source program has a signal present - the inputs may not be connected to the selected source on the front panel (or try FM or AM for a source instead) 5) Check for proper connection at each of the speakers AND at the rear of the stereo. 6) Perform a microprocessor reset: a.Power the unit off, b. Press and release the "POWER" _while_ keeping both "Speaker A" and "Speaker B" buttons pressed. Once the display begins flashing in 1 second intervals, release both speaker buttons.

Hopefully, one of those steps will solve the issue. Please rate this reply if it was helpful - good luck!

Flickering video with Denon AVR 1910

I had the same issue with my Denon AVR-1908.....It turned out to be the cable box, not the receiver. I would suggest you unplug your cable box, remove and reseat the cable card,HDMI cables, and finally the cable line itself. Make sure the wires are not frayed or otherwise pinched.

Good luck....

I had the same issue..I called Denon support and they fixed the problem. You need to reboot the micro-processor....turn off the unit...hold down A+B then turn on...the display blinks (all the display is illuminated) Let go of the buttons.....issue resolved!

Good luck....

Denon AVR-1100 receiver "PROTECT" mode

replace all the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply. i had the exact same problem with mine and once i replaced the capacitors it powered up and stayed on and worked perfect.
these capacitors tend to fail as they're of poor quality.
this fault is very common on denon receivers, especially the later models.

hope this helps?
