Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX50 Digital Camera

Open Question

The joystick is not working on my Lumix DMC-FX50

The joystick works when pushed down, left and up, but not right or down. I'm wondering whether I can replace the joystick. I have opened the camera and seen that the joystick is part of a switch that is directly soldered onto the printed circuit board. I have the skills to solder a new joystick but do not know whether a replacement is available. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SOURCE: installation for LUMIX DMC-LS2

The Arcsoft software that comes with most, if not all, Panasonic cameras is available as a trial download on the internet. The free version is only available on the disk that came with the camera. However, if you are using Windows XP (or maybe even Vista) you can use a free photo edit/organizer program such as Google's Picasa. As long as your computer recognizes the camera when connected, you can use most any software. If this doesn't work, you can try using a usb card reader and removing the card from your camera and accessing your images that way.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: burst mode on Panasonic Lumix dmc-fx50

I have, after sifting through the 144-page manual, figured out what the problem is! At some point you must have set the "Auto-Bracket" setting to on - I did the same thing! To turn this off, put it in any of the Scene or Manual Exposure modes, then press the up (↑) key until "Auto-Bracket" comes up. Then, using the left or right (←,→) keys, set it to Zero (0). This should hopefully solve your problem! :)

It should have a little switch on the side. You slide it down to lock, up to unlock.

Try formatting the new card in the camera. Also, download any pics from the old card using a card reader and then, format it in the camera.

I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX50 Digital Camera that all of a sudden says memory card not inserted when it actually is. I've tried formatting the card on my pc and still nothing. I cant use the camera...

Hello Optimus,

From the descriptions you said, it is unlikely that it is the card that is malfunctioning. It is probably the card slot inside your camera. Make sure that your card is inserted firmly. Also, check the inside of the card slot if it has bent / broken connectors. It might need servicing / replacing.

Screen cracked, can I replace the screen?

If you send it in, you will be charged about $180-200 and what you will get back is a refurbished camera which may or may not be the same model. You can google "how to replace a screen on a Lumix DMC-FX50 and you may get lucky with instructions and places where you can order the screen. Probable total cost....about $50 and your time.

The auto focus and the manual focus are not

I have a similar problem. The focusing joystick has just stopped working. Been trawling the net for weeks trying to find a solution (out of warranty, typically). Have you had any luck solving your problem?

This suggests the zoom motor has failed. As you only purchased it 2 weeks ago - it should be replaced under warranty
