I have a Fujitsu Lifebook P-2040 that I just reformatted. I'm going to install Windows 2K Professional (don't have the restore disks for XP Home). After I reformatted and restarted, nothing happens. There is power to the unit (I hear the system running), but the screen remains blank. I'm not sure which Fn key activates the BIOS setup, but with a blank screen, I'm swimming in the dark. Got any idea(s) on what's going on? JJJ

Is there any reason for your preference for Win 2K over Win XP Pro? XP Pro would be a better choice over Win 2K.

You may be able to selecting the CD as the alternate boot device by pressing F12 as the laptop is booting up.
I am not familar with BIOS key on your laptop but you can try these keys on a cold boot up (don't use a warm boot up - Ctrl+Alt+Del keys). Try:-
Del
F1
F2
F10
Ctrl+F1 or F2
Alt+F1 or F2
Esc+F1 or F2
Once you get into the BIOS you can change the boot order, set the CD as the first device. You should be able install Windows from the CD.

If these keys don't work go to the Fujitsu WEB site to download the manual, whilst you are there you will also need to download the drivers for your model laptop the Windows version of the devices that are installed on your laptop eg. audio, video, modem, LAN etc. These need to be installed after the Windows installation.

My fujitsu lifebook s6010 will not start in normal mode after system restore

Run the Check Disk Utility

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

Fujitsu Lifebook N6470 will not boot

Most times these kinda errors are issue with some kinda corrupted driver. Have you tired to boot in to safe mode. To do so shut down the laptop and when you press power to turn it on start tapping F8 key until advanced windows start up shows up.If you cant i would consider taking it back to store where you got it since pressing this button is not supposed to do anything. Most new computers come with Operating System reinstall built in which kinda sucks since some times you just cant get to it like in your case. Restore disk shoud work and you can try making Bios settings back to original since Vista will boot to the CD/DVD drive if it detects media. If this does not work i would not spend too much time on it and would replace it or have it fixed if you have extended warranty. I would also be very careful about posting Product key on any web sites. Hope this helps.

Starts up runs then hangs up

What is your OS? If you are using Vista then there could be an incompatible piece of hardware which will cause it to hang up. Try installing a different OS. If this is not the problem, it could be the incorrect drivers have been installed. Go to the manufacturers website to make sure you have the correct ones for your computer.

How do i restore to factory without any restore diskson a lifebook t4010"

It is not possible to restore to factory setting without the accompanying restore disks. You can attempt to contact Fujitsu Siemens and obtain a set of repair disks from them.

Your only other option is to obtain a retail copy of Windows and perform a new installation, then download the required drivers from the Fujitsu Siemens web site.

Fujitsu lifebook t2020 restoration disc

When you plug your machine in,,and turn it on,,do you get any info on the screen at all?
And by the way,,,technicly you dont need a restoration disc,,you can use a windows xp install disc as long as you have the serial number,,and load it yourself.
The recovery disc is a little more hassle free because it also restores the drivers as well.
But if you are willing to spend a bit more time,,just do it the way everyone else does it,,,install windows from cd

I have a lifebook t2440 i tired to put windows xp home editon it went to setup and started sherching for a pervious operating system and it came back and said no hard disk drive found.what versions of...

That happens because the BIOS uses a SATA controller that is not included in Windows XP install disk.

Usually you can solve the problem going to BIOS settings and changing SATA/RAID settings.Check your BIOS settings, and disable SATA RAID mode. This is done in different ways depending on the BIOS.

On HP/Compaq computers for example you press F2 on startup to enter BIOS, then disable SATA mode on bios settings.
On other makes the procedure can be slightly different.

Another way to fix the problem, is by creating your own XP setup disk with SATA drivers included, see:
Resolving "Setup did not find any hard disk drives" during Windows .
