USB Device Not Recognized

I got my mp3 player last year for Christmas, and a little while ago it stopped working; it would freeze up every time I turned it on so I stopped using it. I tryed it again today and it works fine now, but while trying to connect it to my computer to sync I get an error message saying "USB Device Not Recognized". I've tryed everything on the troubleshooter page that popped up, but nothings working.

Wow, thanks for the fast reply(:

Now, I'm not good with computers at all, I installed the device manager, is that all I had to do? If so then that didn't work... There are other icons that came in the folder, but when I click on them they do nothing. /:

    btw, I'm using Windows XP

Ah, I figured out that I have to upgrade the firmware, but I can't do that without it connecting to my computer. Is there anything I can do?

Whenever i turn on my Samsung mps player it freezes on the song that was played, and doesn't respond to anything. I even tried to connect it to my computer but it doesn't even recognize it when i hook it up with the USB cable.

It sounds like you need a driver for your player on the pc - or the old one is somehow corrupted. There are some conflict issues with new versions of windows media player also. Go to this link; http://www.usasupport.philips.com/productDocuments.html?ProductCode=HDD082/17B&subCat=HDD_AUDIO_JUKEBOX_SU_US_CONSUMER and download the "Firmware Manager" about halfway down. Install it and see if your problem is solved. if not, please post again with details of which windows version you are using on the pc, and I can talk you through a few more things to try. You can also see if i'm online and talk live if you prefer. Hope this helps :)

Not recognized by PC

First off.. Make sure your software and drivers are up to date...

Second, try re-installing Windows Media Player or if you have WMP 10 installed, try upgrading to WMP 11.

Also, if you plug in something else to your USB port, does the PC recognize it? Or, if you try your GoGear on another computer, does it work ok?

My ilo mp3 player is ruining christmas.....

This is the worst mp3 player ever invented - i have to tell you this up front. There is no driver, the company does not support the product anymore - I would return it now while you still can.

Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
