If I place the 3G USB Modem into my 60GB PS3, the PS3 just doesn't detect it. The light on the USB Modem flashes but even if I go into Network Settings, then into Internet Connection Settings and then select any of the options there it just, in the end, says that it doesn't detect any device, or something like that.As a side note, I have a Compaq laptop with Windows Vista (just in case).
Erm...cant you just plug in your 3 usb to your pc and connect to your ps3 via the ethernet cable? that should work...but i think the main issue is that it might be too slow to play online...either that or you play online for ten mins and then your done for the month lol
When you plug in a 3G USB modem into the PS3 which runs game-os, you should see a message saying it is an unsupported device. As game-os is a closed operating system from Sony, they must make change to their firmware to handle such 3G modems, so you need to ask them to support these modems. If they ever do support 3G modems, expect it to only work with Sony branded 3G phones or modems.
If you have other-os on your PS3, then you could load the appropriate packages to support 3G modems in you linux distribution of choice - but Sony have now removed other-os from PS3 firmware 3.21 and later - thanks for nothing Sony.
