The top arm isn't spinning. I took the bottom assembly apart to check for clogs and found none. the bottom arm spins fine but the top one isn't moving at all. Any thoughts?

Cyber, did you get down to the chopper screen? If that is clogged with gunk it will restrict the flow and the top arm will not spin. Im going to try to attach a pic of the chopper assy and screen. Catriver..post back
The inlet cover has one torx screw holding it on and it lifts off. The screen is held in grooves on the bottom and on the inlet cover. The shaft slides into a grove in the inlet cover securing it.The inlet cover has one torx screw holding it on and it lifts off. The screen is held in grooves on the bottom and on the inlet cover. If the dishwasher won't clean dishes, check the lower wash arm assembly. If the lower wash arm isn't getting water, all of the dishes in the lower rack will come out dirty. Check to be sure the lower wash arm assembly spins freely. Also check to be sure the little holes in the lower wash arm aren't clogged or blocked.
might wanna check the connections on the back of it and make sure nothing has broken behind it....also may wanna get a mop and some towels something tells me its throwing water out the back side of itself while its running
I have an older dishwasher also and recently my wife also complained about it not cleaning right... so me being the man I am tried in vain to clean the things... Bought new spray arms online and installed them in minutes...now the thing works like new... However I have also found that if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad... So I would buy new spray arms, and also check out the heating element to make sure it is working... Here is a tip that will help you with the online buying...
The spray arm rotates based on the water pressure coming out of them. If no water pressure, then no rotation. You probably have a clog on the intake hose. You can pull out the dishwasher, tip it forward so you can get to the bottom and then remove the intake hosing to check for debris that might be clogging it. Also check that the arm will spin freely if you spin it by hand, it should. Let me know what you find. Have a great day. Benjamin
Make sure the water level is just at or below the heating element. Low water level will cause the pump to "run out of water" before all wash arms and connecting tubing are filled. A pulsing sound during the wash cycle will verify. Low water pressure or a bad water inlet valve are one cause. Water siphoning ou the drain line is another. Look under your sink and verify the drain line goes from the garbage disposal or sink tailpiece all the way up to the bottom side of the coutertop enroute to the dishwasher.
Hi: I just posted a similar problem, but found a solution. After taking the arm, etc. apart (and verifying no blockages), I thought maybe the lack of water pressure was being caused by the fact that there are TWO holes for the top spray arm (higher and lower rack setting) on my model. ie. that water was being forced out of both holes, causing a drop in water pressure, which was causing the top spray arm to stop spinning. I plugged the unused hole with a wine bottle cork (to keep the water from spraying out the unused hole), and voila, it now works.
I may have the answer. I had what sounded to be the same problem. I found the dishes were dirty after they were cleaned, but I found there may have been a big pot lid blocking the upper arm. I decided to run the machine again, and after a bit opened the dishwasher after to make sure it was not a problem with the arm. Sure enough, the arm wasn't moving. However, I found out on the Frigidaire webpage that some models have an alternating spray cycle, where only one arm spins at any given time. After reading this I checked again, and it had moved by that time. I checked a few times more to confirm this. So it ended up it was an arm blockage after all. Hope this helped...good luck. www.frigidaire.com/support/FAQ-Dishwasher.asp#6
only the top rack isnt getting clean? there is a little plastic
circle in the middle of the bottom of the upper spray arm. turn it
counter clock wise to pull the upper spray arm from the upper rack.
make sure that isnt clogged and the spray holes are not clogged.
otherwise....
the piece that the bottem spray arm plugs into and
runs along the back wall of the tank to the top is called a feed tube.
pull the bottom spray arm out. now you can see the part of the feed
tube that feeds the upper spray arm water. does it pop out freely and
easily? if so then you need a new feed tube, if not then its most
likely your not achieving the right water level or your impeller
connected to your circulation pump(motor) is clogged not supplying
enough water pressure to travel up the feed tube to spin the upper
spray arm.
