I bought my camera a week ago and since then i havent been able to charge the internal battery. When i put the battery into the charger the light flashes red and it doesnt charge. I have tried to hold it in, hold it out, use different plug etc but to no avail. All the instructions say is red light on - charging, no light on - not charging but there is no troubleshoot option on offer. Please help!!
You bought it a week ago, and you're on the internet asking for advice?
eh.. take it back. its got nothing to do with the connection. it sounds like the battery is DEAD. dead dead. did it work for a while after you got it home, then stop responding? its a duff battery. i'm sure
alternatively, buy an instant camera..
anyway.. yes, take it back, receipt or not. look on ebay for a new battery. there WILL be one there.

You can't change that battery. But there is no need to do so.
Just put 4 recently charged NiMH batteries in the camera and wait 24 hours. The batteries will charge the internal battery. This little battery, should last at lease 10 years.
And only if you put the camera away for a longer time (weeks or months) get out the main batteries.
Never use manganese (Zinc-Carbon) batteries in your camera. They don't give enough power and can start leaking.
Might be the camera's battery terminals, not the battery itself. Take a qtip and some isopropyl aclohol and clean the terminals in the battery well of camera.
Have you updated the firmware? According to Nikon, when the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL10 is inserted in the camera and charged, charging sometimes did not stop after the designated amount of time had passed. Usually, you'll receive the message "Battery Exhausted" if this is the problem... but you could also have a completely dead camera as well.
See Nikon's website, download updated firmware to your camera and install a NEW battery. http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16873
yes your battery are finish they can not hold the charge put new one on charge for 12 hrs not less
if there not fully charge it is your battery charger
defective....
Hi there please reset the camera 1st . THen pair your battery with your camera. Go in menu then battery type option. Select the type of a battery. After that save the setting. Now try . If you face the same problem then the camera internal power transformer are damaged or week. So you need to replace that transformer after that it will start work properly. You use that camera so long, that's why there is a chance of that damaged. Thanks if its helpful then rating me.
I just bought my stylus 840 olympus digital camera in aruba one and half weeks ago. Charged the battery and it worked fine for the two times I used it. Now it won't turn on. I charged the battery. Even bought a new one and nothing happens.
If this happens allot of the times you have to remove the battery from the camera for 24 hr so the camera's compositors can discharge all the way and not it is not the circuit board. Some time the circuit over loads and has to be discharged because of the polarity the electricity is travailingthought the circuits now I know diodes are suppose to prevent this but it is a common problem. hope this helps.
