The power button will not turn the camera on or off; however, if I press the power button, then press the button that changes the screen from live mode to pictures taken mode, then it will work. After using the camera, I have to wait until the auto shut-off turns off the camera. It stilll takes good pictures but I don't know who or how to fix it.
In today's cameras on off button only give a pulse to processor to switch on.actually camera is on all time technically.only screen is off.Your problem may be flex connection to main board has failed. The group connector for on off, click, Tele, wide, all together forms one connector. Whole part to be replaced by camera technician to save your camera.

I fixed the problem that I reported above by physically pulling the lens out with my fingers as the camera tried to do it itself. It took a few tries, but eventually it came out. Power on the camera and pull the lens housing outward. I think I will have to repeat this occasionally, but I haven't used the camera much recently. The lesson in this is do not lend this camera to an 8-year-old.

I jeremy- i was having the exact same problem today. I phoned Sony repair, who then had me take out the battery and hold down the power button for about 30 seconds..reinsert the battery and power up. Didn't fix it. I came home and read some posts on here. I ended up trying the gently twist the lens as it was zooming in and out..I twisted a little and pulled a little. About the third time, it worked. (I also held the power button down with the battery in, just to try..maybe that helped, too). Sony wants flat fee of $91 to fix..is that what they told you?

Hi!
The focus doesn't move as it should - it was stuck before you tapped it. Could be sand or something in it. I'm afraid you will have to give it away for a repair. You can contact your local Sony service center, but if they ask too much, I can offer you a very good price. My e-mail is [email protected]
I work in a Sony service center.
Hope this helps!
