I am trying to burn an audio CD with Roxio. I can get it to burn but my stereo will not recognize the disk as Having anything on it. I have tried several different things and it isn't working. What can I...

Try a different type of CD. If you're using CD+R discs, change to a CD-R and see if it works better for you. Also, make sure you finalize your session to verify that olde CD-ROM readers will read the disc. If you're burning MP3 files, make sure you're converting them to audio files on the way to the disc, as older stereos will not read MP3 files.

Cd player reads error 04

The error 4 in most Sony stereos is an error that comes up when the laser pickup doesn't read the disc correctly. This happens most of the time because of a dirty lens in the laser pickup. If anyone smokes in the vehicle the smoke may be on the lens causing the error code. Try a wet type CD cleaning disc to see if it helps.

firstly - test the discs in another player that you know will play burnt discs/mp3 files (not your computer)- if they don't work then you know either they are not finalised, or your burner is on its way out.

Marantz cdr420 recorded media stored on harddrive.played back all fine unplugged now it says no valid files when i try to burn the disc but the drive reads full.

If you are attempting to burn mp3 files as an audio CD, then that's the problem. You cannot burn audio CDs from MP3 files. You have to burn MP3 files as a data CD and not as an audio CD. See excerpt taken from page 33 in the CDR420 user guide. "Prepares CDs that can be played on standard CD players. Compact Disc Digital Audio (CDDA) uses uncompressed PCM, .wav files. The CDR420 does not convert MP3 files to PCM so MP3 files are ignored if you choose AUDIO as the CD TYPE"

CDX-f500

Have you tried cleaning the unit with a "Laser Lens Cleaner?" one that uses fluid? Mp3 is a fickle format and your deck may be having issues reading it. Try running a cleaner thru it. Secondly, when you burn discs, make sure you finalize it by making it "compatable for all player types" Hope this helps

Won't read mp3 and wma cds

The discs were not "finalized" or "closed" - place the cd's back on your computer cd-rom drive and search the help file of your CD burning software and search for "closing disc" or "finalizing disc." Some programs will allow you to close or finalize after you have already burned them, but others (Sony SoundForge is one exmaple) will not allow it - you may have to re-burn the discs and select the option that says "close disc after finishing" (this option is usually left unchecked by default, because closing or finalizing a disc prevents you from adding any new information to the disc).
