The system which controls water level is an air chamber with a small diameter pipe which goes to a pressure stat. when the correct level is reached, the pressure in the air chamber switches the pressure stat and cuts the water off. the things to look for are: gunge in the air chamber split in the pipe. faulty pressure stat to test, get a similiar length of small diameter pipe and connect it to the pressure stat instead. with the machine filling, blow gently into the pipe and see if the water intake cuts off

How do I stop the front loader (washer/dryer from flooding my rv?

If the washer is overflowing the pressure switch might be defective. The pressure switch is attached to a small tube which is attached to the outer wash tub. As the water level rises the air pressure in the tube increases, once the set water level is reached the pressure switch turns off power to the water inlet valve. Check to be sure the air tube to the pressure switch is clear before replacing the switch.
If the pressure switch is fine, check the water inlet valve for continuity on the solenoid coil by removing the top cover of the machine.

I have an old maytag model #LA712 top loader. Recently it has started overflowing not stopping when it's filling. This does not happen everytime and it does not leak any other times but when it does what a...

Usually this is caused by the water inlet valve sticking in the open position. If you can catch the washer while it's overflowing, unplug the washer. If the water stops, then the problem is most likely a pressure switch or pressure hose. If the water does not stop, it is most likely the water inlet valve.

Are you describing a problem with a FRONT LOADER? Or, a TOP LOADER? If your washer fills, won't shut off and then overflows, this is caused by either a pressure switch malfuction, or a water inlet valve that won't shut off. The following link explains how to diagnose the problem and replace any parts (if required):

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3753262-front_load_washer_fills_when_not_in_use If you have a TOP LOADER, the method of diagnosing the problem is the same, but accessing the components is different: http://www.fixya.com/support/r3753517-whirlpool_top_load_washer_fills_when_not
I know the links are for a problem where the washer continues to fill even when it is not in use, but this problem occurs while the washer is running as well. The method of determing the cause is the same.

In many cases, an overflow problem is caused by the air hose slipping off the pressure switch. Without the air hose, the pressure switch never detects the pressure differential from the wash tub as it fills and won't shut off. This causes the washer to overflow and appear as a more serious problem.

Read through the links provided and let me know if you have any questions. If the conditions I have described do not match your symptoms, please post back and elaborate a bit more so I can help you determine the source of the problem. Please include your complete MODEL NUMBER. I hope you find this information helpful.

Ultimate Care II - water doesn't stop at the fill line, keeps filling to overflow and will not agitate

If the washer overfills, it may be something as simple as a detached or broken air hose on the pressure switch. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r762094-washer_overflows

The pressure switch on top loaders is located behind the load level selector knob on the operator console. The pressure switch on front loaders will be located inside the cabinet, usually mounted along the back interior wall. In the case of certain Maytag front loaders, the pressure switch is actually located under the tub. The principles of operation on all of them is the same, though. They all have an electrical connection and an air hose that detects the pressure from the tub as the water level rises.

If the pressure switch is not able to detect the water level properly, it will not shut off and the washer will never begin the wash cycle. Instead, you get a tub overflowing on your laundry room floor.

Read through the link provided and let me know if you have any questions. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: Another source of an overflow could be the water inlet valve. This is usually a slow fill fill that you find when the washer is sitting idle over night. A quick test to determine the source of the problem is to unplug the washer. If the water stops - pressure switch. If the water continues to fill - water inlet valve.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Tub overflow

Remove the hose from the water level switch and blow air through it.
The water level switch air hose has a clog in it.

Clean LG WF-T652a Top Loader Washing Machine

I have this problem too and I solved it easily !!!!

I hypothesised that something was blocked by dried up lint/silt. So I filled the machine with very hot water and also poured hot water down the lint filter outlets. I left it for 5 minutes and then started a wash cycle - and the water now comes out of the lint filter ducts. ! :-)
