I don't know what happened and i don't know why it won't flash. The Red led just keeps on blinking and i think that the flash capacitor isn't charging up... what do you think is the problem? how will i know what the problem is? can i fix it myself or just let the technicians check on it? thanks..
Hello Betz, You are right, the flash capacitor isn't charging. The camera however doesn't have a sensor monitoring the capacitor charge, but has one on the circuits that charge the capacitor. If they aren't powered on (because of faulty connectors or damaged components) they will not be able to suply power to the inverter circuits that will charge that capacitor. The led is blinking because at some point the charging tension is sent to charging circuitry but doesn't stop blinking because charging doesn't take place or it takes place but the wires that carry the "I'm charged and ready" signal are severed or don't make a perfect electricaly contact. I don't recomand a DiY fix for this because by opening the camera you can damage the lens assembly or expose yourself to some 300-350Volts from that capacitor if it's charging. If you decide to try to diagnose yourself this problem I can suggest you to check if that capacitor is storing some tension on it, if it does, then the problem is shurely related to that "I'm charged and ready" signal wire. In either case all the connectors must be checked. Please note also that if the inverter, or charging circuitry is broken (damaged components) the service centers will change it as a whole and woun't try to repair it. This will cost about $50-$80 without labor part. Please post a reply if you nead more directions. Good luck.

This means that the defect occured after the capacitor was being charged. THe camera couldn't couple the discarge command to the actuall power inverter that needs to raise the 340V on the capacitor to the required 37000volts needed to actually fire the flash. Even if the camera couldn't charge the flash it still remained charged. A capacitor will remain charged even if you remove batteries and even after a long time.
The bottom ideea is that somewhere among the flash circuitry you may have a broken component that may need to be changed. Integrated circuits are very difficult to test under those condition so most service centers will change the whole flash assembly for a trouble free repair.

Hi Bogdan, thanks for the fast reply! It gave me some thoughts but still continued on checking it on my own. I've opened my camera and I checked the capacitor by connecting its ends by a screw driver. It sparked and I know that is a sign of a charge but after that... I tried to turn it on.. waited for a while, connected the ends again and.. no more spark( sign of no charge)... all of the connections were fine.. no wires were cut.. so, I just put them all back again.. and still has the same problem.. now, I don't know what to do...
