Audio adjust screen pop up

My viewsonic vx-2255 wm-2 monitor frequently pops up the audio adjust menu in the middle of the screeen. I can get rid of the small blue screen by pressing the 1, 2 or up and down buttons on the side of the monitor but the screen comes right back. I purchased last year recently. what can I do to fix this? I tried reloading the drivers and switching power cords. I have vista as my operating system. my viewsonic monitor frequently pops up the audio adjust menu in the middle of the screeen. How can I fix it.

I contacted ViewSonic with the same problem. They told me to turn off the monitor and unplug all the cables. Then hold the power button on the monitor for 10 seconds. Turn it back on and it should be gone.

If that doesn't work, I was told to do a memory recall on the monitor by pressing the 1 button and selecting memory recall from the list. It sets the monitor back to factory settings.

I haven't tried any of these yet but hopefully they work for someone.

Yes, I made it!!!

I had worked on this annoying problem for two hours. Tried all methods I can find online. most methods work only for 2 or 3 seconds, then it came back. However, I noticed that while I hold the "1" and "up" for more than ten seconds, the power button was blocked by showing a blue window with "Power .... locked" after the blue window disappeared. Once the pop up window came back again, I pushed the power button down and held, while the monitor remained powered, the autio adjust window disappeared as long as i remains the power eye pressed. Now you have the opportunity to solve the problem. I used a tiny clamp to hold a small rubber block against the power button. Haha, it works!! it is really a ugly way, but it is hundreds time better than you seeing the annoying window that right at the center of the monitor you cannot get rid off it. It makes me almost crazy. I am going to change a small nice spring clip to replace the clamp.

I called Viewsonic and they solved my problem. For those who have this problem, here is the solution. Turn off your monitor and unplug it. Press and hold in the power switch in the front for more than 30 sec. Release the power switch and plug the monitor back in. Turn on the monitor. Problem should be solved. It seems this must be a hard reset if things go astray with the monitor. It solved my problem and I hope it solves anybody else who has this problem. It might even solve the same problem with other monitors.

Sounds like the monitor menu is popping up. If so, it is not your computer but the monitor that is causing the problem. Is the monitor menu button stuck?

Contrast window pops up and dims the screen.

You are not alone. I have a Viewsonic monitor that does exactly the same thing. Wasn't sure if it was the monitor or a "bug".

Monitor problems

You need to change down the res. to a minor mode. i.e. 800x600 low quality. For Windows enter the protected mode - i.e. after POST (bootup) press F8 then enter with your account, or the administrator. Right-click anywhere on the empty desktop and enter "Properties" menu. Turn the screen resolution down in there (i.e. 800x600); also, check whether your current monitor is recognized by model in there. Re-adjust to a suitable working resolution. If all fails, you can also de-install the video card driver in admin protected mode to go back to basics. Of course You need to re-install it again afterwards when in your original Windows.
