Question about Fujitsu LifeBook AH531

Cannot get boot menu on fujitsu lifebook ah531

When i first startup and see the fujitsu logo i cannot get into boot menu or bios. i press f12 but nothing happens at all. please help me

I am having the same problem but I don't know what to do about it. I have tried all the things suggested by people such as unscrewing certain things and checking the battery etc but nothings working for me. When I press F2 it says please wait or when I press Esc it gives me the same two options which are F2 and F12. When I click the F12 button it does not work but when I click the F2 button it says Entering SETUP, but it has been like this for a long time now. If you have yours solved help me please because I have some very important things on my laptop.

It could be the inverter that runs the back light.
Have a look around maybe on Ebay, it's cheaper than a another new screen. Take yours out of the laptop and look for any names or numbers on it to make sure you get the correct one.

may be it's not set to boot from HD....
pls let me know if u can make changes in BIOS and can set HDD booting...

The F12 Boot Menu allows you to choose which device that you would like to boot the computer's Operating System from by pressing the F12 key during the computer's Power On Self Test, or POST process. Some notebook and netbook models have the F12 Boot Menu disabled by default.
If this sounds like your problem then try this:

To enable the F12 Boot Menu:

Restart the computer.
Press the F2 key to enter computer's BIOS Setup during Power-On Self-Test, or POST, process while the Acer logo is being displayed.
Press the Right Arrow key to select Main
Select F12 Boot Menu
Press the Enter key
Select Enabled
Press the Enter key
Press the F10 key and then press the Enter key to save the changes and restart the computer.

Note: Not all Acer notebooks or netbooks have the F12 Boot Menu feature. Computers that do not have the F12 Boot Menu feature will not be able to enable the feature within the BIOS. I hope this works for you if not, then the problem is obviously not the boot menu. Go to Acer support for more help

Linux mint 12 won't boot from CD

Restart your computer, press repetedly a key to enter BIOS, normally Del, go to Advanced BIOS Features probably and change to boot primarly from CD/DVD (1st Boot Device CD/DVD , or something like that), save and exit BIOS, and restart your computer with Linux Mint CD inside. Be aware that if you make wrong changes in BIOS, you could damage your computer.

Hi and welcome to Fixya!

In order to revert the machine back to its factory setting, you need to have the recovery disk (if you don't have it, call the warranty support line of e-machines so they can provide it to you).

To restore Windows from your recovery discs, you will need to
insert the first backup disc and enable the F12 Boot Menu via the BIOS Setup
Utility.
1 Turn on your computer and insert the first system recovery disc into the
optical disc drive. Restart your computer.
2 During startup when the eMachines logo shows, press the F2 key to enter
BIOS Setup, where you can set system parameters.
3 Use the left and right arrow keys to select the Main submenu.
4 Use the up and down arrow keys to select F12 Boot Menu.
5 Use the F5 or F6 key to change F12 Boot Menu to Enabled.
6 Press the ESC key to enter the Exit submenu, press the ENTER key to Exit
Saving Changes. Press the ENTER key again to select Yes. The system will
reboot.
7 After rebooting, when the eMachines logo shows, press the F12 key to
open the Boot Menu. Here you can select which device to boot from.
8 Use the arrow keys to select the IDE1*, then press the ENTER key. Windows
will be installed from the recovery disc.
9 Insert the second recovery disc when prompted, then follow the onscreen
prompts to complete the restore.
10 Remove the recovery disc from the optical drive once the restore is
complete. Do this before rebooting your computer.

Try tapping the F12 key during boot. That should bring up a menu of bootable devices. Select the floppy drive.
You can also change the boot order in the BIOS.

Make *absolutely sure* you are plugged in when you flash the BIOS!

Welcome to FixYa! The problem that you have is about the Operating system and there are two ways of fixing the problem which is by using the Recovery Disc or using the One Key Recovery Button. Please follow the steps below for you to be able to fix the problem. If everything is done and its still the same, most probably, the problem is with the Harddrive.
For One Key Recovery:
1. Turn off the computer.

2. Press the little button near the power button, it usually do have a drawing of an icon that looks like a horse shoe or a headset.

3. There will be a window that will appear which do have three option, One Key Antivirus, One Key Recovery and System Setup. Choose One key Recovery.

4. There will be another window that will appear which do have two option, Restore from initial backup and Restore from user backup,Choose Restore from initial back up

5. It will asked you if you want to continue, Just click on OK or YES.

6. Once done, Reboot the computer.

For Recovery Disc,

1. Insert the disc inside the drive.

2. Turn off the computer then turn it back on and keep on tapping F12

3. There will a window that will appear which do have three options, HDD,ODD/DVD/CD, and NAT, choose ODD/DVD/CD

4. It will asked you to press any key immediately, you will need to press any key immediately so that it will boot from ODD.

5. It will asked you to choose a partition, choose Disc 0 partition 1

6. Reboot computer once done.

Ibm t21 turn on to start up page with diaganol ibm logo and press f1 for bios f12 for temporary boot device,but it just hangs there the f1 & f12 buttons dont do anything any help much appreciated

The cpu looking for a file or driver so go to F1 and click on F10 and exit and see what will happen? If that did not work restart the computer and keep clicking on F8 tell you get a new menu asking you to select one of the followings, one of them safe mode, or last know good configurations, etc. Select last know good startup.

What you want to do in this matter is, go into the BIOS if you haven't done that already, and change the boot device priority to CD. You want to do the following right when you startup the computer, and without the CD in the drive. BIOS/Setup Utility, can usually be found be pressing the delete key at startup, or the F12 key at startup, so push one of those two keys a few times to get to the BIOS utility. The setting to change the boot order of devices is usually one of the menu options at the top of the screen, closer to the right side. Once you find how to change the boot order, change the first device that the computer boots to to the CD you've got, insert your CD, save the BIOS settings and exit, and you should be set to go.
